Who Are You Listening to?

QuestionsHere’s a bit of creative expression today. I am writing this because someone desperately needs to hear this.

Reaching out.
Reaching up.
Looking around.

Desperately seeking someone to tell you that you matter, you belong, you are loved.
Trying to find anyone that can affirm you.

But who can affirm, define, or confirm those deepest parts of your BEING? Only God. Not a nebulous God somewhere out there, deep in the recesses of the universe. He is a God that is upfront and personal. One who knows you through and through. He is a Father.

You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit-by-bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, the days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day. Psalms 139:15-16

This good Father sent an awesome Son, Jesus Christ into our world, into time, taking on human flesh to be able to understand our struggles and trials in time. Jesus experienced pain, sorrow, and persecution – all in time. He understands our lives here on earth. And, He understands that IN TIME, our only source of acceptance and affirmation is His good Father.

Jesus Himself went to the Father to seek direction, affirmation and guidance in the power of Holy Spirit. As He is, so am I. If Jesus Himself heard the Father’s affirmation upon His life, we need the same thing.

The moment Jesus came up out of the baptismal waters, the skies opened up and he saw God’s Spirit—it looked like a dove—descending and landing on him. And along with the Spirit, a voice: “This is my Son, chosen and marked by my love, delight of my life.” Mt. 3:16-17

God split the heavens with a loud resounding voice and proclaimed, “This is MY Beloved Son, in whom I AM well pleased.” Have you heard God say this over your life? Listen carefully and you will hear.

When you go here and here and everywhere, or when you look up or down or all around, what are you finding? Are you hearing God affirm your life in Christ? What are you listening to?

Fleeting compliments from those who see you through the lens of their current perspective?

How about words of support and encouragement from friends who truly know you after years of relationship?

Each of these may sustain you for a bit but they both pale by comparison to the ONE who knows you through and through, down to the deepest part of your being. We need His words to us in time to impact our lives right here, right now.

There is a place in each of our lives where our feelings and struggles are hidden from man but deeply seen and protected by God. In this place, we cry out for acceptance, belonging, and unconditional love. This is the cry of the human heart, a cry waiting to be filled only by God Himself in Christ.

People struggling to be heard and to be seen, desperately wanting to know that they matter in this moment of time in which they have been born.

For such a time as this, YOU have been born. It is not by accident. It’s this time. You are in YOUR TIME. Do you know that? If God wanted you in another time, you would have been born into that time.

ClocksYou belong in YOUR TIME, which is NOW.

The ONE who fashioned and formed you in your mother’s womb hears the cry of the heart and explodes within your life with divine love.

Identity and Purpose is found IN CHRIST. He is the way to find YOU, why you are and where you are…NOW in this time. You can’t find YOU until you find Him. Seek Him with all your heart. Follow Him closely as He leads you on a discovery and adventure in your unique creative expression in the life of His Son.

Look around. Listen carefully. That which we so easily grasp onto in order to define ourselves or to find meaning in our lives, slowly evaporates in this forward movement of time. That which IS will quickly become that which WAS and when you discover that, you just keep seeking and chasing after the wind. There’s a better way.

You, dear one in Christ…YOU are eternally sealed with Holy Spirit, seated in heavenly places in your glorious salvation.

What a beautiful word! Salvation…it brings us into identity, purpose and destiny in Christ. It draws us into eternal love and significance.

God knows you. He loves you. Simple and true. Don’t overcomplicate this. Don’t over analyze this. Run into His arms right now. He waits to hear the inner cry of your heart in time….now.

To Gaze or to Glance -That is the Question – Truth waits for your answer

EyeI look at Truth. Truth looks at me. What I perceive at that moment is just the tip of the iceberg. He desires to fix His gaze on me so that I gaze upon Him. To gaze or to glance? I prefer to gaze so that the depths of who He is expands in my life and I truly live, not exist, but live in Christ.

Gazing is not staring. Staring is mindlessly looking without comprehension. Gazing looks deep into His eyes to find myself for that is where my identity lies.

Sometimes I flounder in perception – those ‘things’ about Him that I know based upon my own fears, insecurity and doubts. Is He really that good? Is His love for me that strong and sure?

Gazing requires strength to look truth right in the eye, fearlessly – to know that I am accepted in the Beloved.

To know Truth starts with perception but it can’t stay there. Go deep and gaze. Right where you are – all your stuff, your fears, your failures. Gaze. That’s the key to life.

What at first glance is perceived must then be believed and received deep within our being. Perception of truth is not enough. To engage with Truth is the essence of life. That is when we truly live. Life in all its glory in Christ, the joy, the sorrow, the pain, and the pleasure…………Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

Revelation in Christ is so deep, so wide, and so high. Imagine this. We stand on the shore of a vast ocean, so vast that the great expanse of its beauty and magnitude before us can be so intimidating and so fearful that we never leave the shore. That’s how it is with many Christians. They hang out on the shoreline of perception and that is all they want and need in Christ. That’s religion, not relationship.

Christ bids us to come and to walk upon the water with Him so that He may reveal Himself to us. His grace empowers our walk. His glory reveals His person.

My vision today.  I saw myself on the shoreline and immediately this verse was given to me. Today, I give it to you.

To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. Ephesians 3:8

This is an apostolic directive for all of us today. To preach the unsearchable riches of Jesus while walking in grace on a vast expansive ocean of revelation. To preach eternity while living in the now. To rise up from dormancy to awake in passion. Go right up to that ocean and step out.

Ocean Golden WaveHe opens up the way and with each wave comes revelation to those willing to seek Him. If we seek Him, He is gracious and faithful to reveal Himself to us.

Truth lays out a path right on the waves. In fear we step out but we must remember that there is no fear in love. So step out, even in fear for that fear will vanish in the presence of His glory. Holy Spirit is our compass, our navigational system that sets us out upon the waters.

We may look foolish. Okay, we will look foolish to those still standing on the shore, waiting. Waiting for what?

Truth is a mystery that is eternal reality. We find it expanded in step by step obedience and trust. He is our life in the here and now, the earthly realm yet we walk in eternity now in our hearts.

Truth opens up our eyes with light as we step out. Don’t run away from this light. Light shines in the face of Christ. Gaze at Him as we walk upon the waves. Don’t look down.

Remember Peter? When He looked at the waves, taking His eyes off of Jesus, he sank. Learn to gaze at Him in the midst of fear, worry anxiety.

We may want to go back to the safety of the shore but Jesus whispers, “Trust Me. Let’s go father out. Walk away from that place of safety that you’ve constructed within the parameters of your life. I’ve so much more to reveal to you.”

Truth becomes the lens of our life in Christ. He desires us to see with Kingdom perspective. The ocean depths prepare us to trust and obey.

These posts will lift you higher, away from earthly concerns if just for a moment so that you may see you are seated in heavenly places.

Born from above, our lives expand in harmony within heaven’s revelation of our identity in Christ.

How do I walk in this reality? It is my life, interwoven into my being. I’m not content with passive man-made Christianity.

Each morning,  I pray and meditate for about one hour with one of my French Bulldogs on my lap. Holy Spirit directs my mind and my heart in meditations for the day. Today, as I walked upon the water, He whispered this verse.

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit. John 3:8

This confirms that in the depth of my heart, I accept adventure and journey in Christ. It is a life in the Spirit for I am born of the Spirit through salvation in Jesus. Who ever told you Christianity is outdated or boring? They either lied or have only experienced religion. Look again.
