There’s No There………..There

3294247795_7a63d3d340_zHave you heard the expression – “There’s no there…there”? It captures an image in my mind of someone continually walking, but never arriving at his or her destination.

I see so many people waiting for something or someone to take them out of their current reality to whisk them away to their ‘THERE’. That place where all is settled nicely into place. That next breakthrough. That next prophetic word. That next something or other.

You know that word in Isaiah that says that those who wait upon the Lord will rise up with wings as eagles. Well, I know many who are still waiting and waiting and waiting. I used to be one of them, feeling somewhat self-righteous and smug in my spirituality. No more. It’s time to risk it all to follow the Lord – possibility, faith and obedience being the key words.

Christianity is about life in Christ. He is my life now. So for me there is no ‘there’ to move into to find Him for He is right here within me. That reality has changed how I approach life on a daily basis. How I can walk in adventure and journey, believing that He is all I need now. Jesus is capable of leading me where He wants me to go to do what He wants me to do.

Sound Waves From MouthWhen I prophesy into someone’s life or even write prophetically, I prophesy from the revelation of the finished work of Christ on the cross. I prophesy from a position of breakthrough, of being seated in heavenly places, of being a child of God NOW not somewhere out THERE.

That is who I am and that is who you are in Christ, as a Christian. Our identity is secure in Him, fully settled in His sacrifice. I no longer strive to achieve anything more to add to his finished work but live in rest, His live flowing in and through mine.

Prophecy that causes anyone to strive or to enter into performance to produce anything is not of God. Yet, there are so many words being given that project us into our future, while negating the reality of our now.

Now we are seated in heavenly places.

Now I am complete in Christ.

Now I am loved.

Now I am accepted.

Now all the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ.

Now every spiritual blessing is mine in Christ.

That’s where I begin to write and prophesy. Now is the day of your salvation. What will we do within it?

To constantly tell people breakthrough is coming, revival is coming, and healing is coming negates the reality of what is here for us in Christ. Breakthrough is mine. Revival is mine. Healing is mine. Believe it. That forms the foundation of a prophetic life. The manifestation of healing or breakthrough may not seem apparent right now but they are complete, nonetheless. When we enter into the rest of this reality, we live from a position of our fulfilled life in Christ, not always searching for something more.

I prophesy that Jesus Himself has secured a life of abundance and blessing in Him. In Him is key to our understanding. I don’t strive to get more. I allow Him to live His life through me, which is a promised life of righteousness, peace and joy. It is a life that I will encounter suffering and persecution but in that I am positioned in His blessing and in His abundant life.

There are times of increased warfare in our lives. But, we don’t withdraw from life, waiting for it to pass. We stand, with an intensity to fight off the enemy through declaration of identity, not through shouting and yelling or trying to press harder and harder and harder. Everything is ours in Christ so we walk in that truth– through the ups and downs of life, through all its trials and sufferings.

This reality has changing everything about my prophetic journey. I don’t strive but find peace in Christ to live my life in the Spirit. Rest produces peace and clarity of vision. Rest increases my trust to believe in the promises of God now and to walk in their reality, one step at a time, moving forward in faith.

CrossI prophesy life to each of you reading this, the life of Christ flowing in and through you for victory over any and every circumstance that you encounter. Our relationship with Jesus, with the Father, with Holy Spirit assures us that He will always be with us, in the midst of our life struggles.

For those who struggle with answers nowhere in sight, start by believing that He is a good Father who loves you and only wants what is best for you NOW. When darkness hits and tries to drag you down, remember that He is with you, never leaving or forsaking you NOW. No matter what storm what difficulty, don’t retreat but run to Him and He will see you through…no over or under but through and you will be stronger through it all.

There’s no there…there. He’s right here with everything you need for life.

More in a few days……………..

Transcendent Worship – Heaven’s Way

When worship becomes entertainment it ceases to be worship. Failing to engage the spirit, music then captures the soul realm, activating the emotions and falling far short of true worship. True worshippers worship in spirit and truth. How much of what goes on in churches today is true worship? I would surmise very little.

Tumult of LightTrue worship takes place in an atmosphere where control and manipulation is absent. There is no need to hype anything up. It is not a spectator sport where there is an audience taking it all in. True worship is where an exchange takes place and heaven manifests on earth. Leaders lay down their agenda and give full control to Holy Spirit.

True worship interacts with eternity. Worship flows from heaven to earth with accompanying signs and wonders, healing, restoration, renewal, and so much more. Worship is transcendent and flows in a transcendent sound.

Transcendent – to be above, independent of the universe and time; superior or supreme; going beyond ordinary limits; surpassing or exceeding; to outdo or exceed in excellence, elevation, extent, degree

Worship is spiritual – in the spirit, of the spirit, through the spirit. Holy Spirit flows through people, ordinary people who submit their mind, will and emotions to a heavenly interchange taking place in their midst as people gather.

Worship is filled with sound. Sound is accompanied by light. They flow together – sound and light. A transcendent sound emanates from heaven flowing into the earth realm from the throne of God. This sound, accompanied with light, is filled with His glory.

Burst of Light in GreenWorship electrifies the spiritual atmosphere, pushing back the powers of darkness. There can be a violent upheaval in sound that brings deliverance. There can be soft, gentle whispers and tones that captivate the heart and bring inner healing.

An eternal sound can’t be duplicated or processed through fleshly striving or attempts at human perfection. As people worship, the atmosphere is pierced with light, life, and glory.

When I visit churches, I find myself asking, “Where is this sound? Where is heaven manifesting in our midst?” God keeps showing me to look at His people. His sound is being birthed through a people, not a program. It is being birthed through a people, not a program, but a people filled with His glory.

When people of like mind and like heart come together, they bring forth the very sound of the Lord, Christ in them, the hope of glory.

The Lord is bringing forth a people who desire to come into agreement with His heart and bring forth His sound in the earth. It is quite simple. It is not a manufactured sound. It is a sound of the heart’s cry to know their Lord. And it is a sound that will bring the movement of the kingdom into our midst in greater and more glorious ways than we can imagine up to this point.

True worship is here, right now, as Christ in each of us explodes through hearts on fire to know Him and to experience His life in creative and glorious ways. May the church catch up with this sound that is capturing a people to know their God. May there be an intense dissatisfaction with song services that engage the flesh but never touch eternity. May we each arise today with a song in our heart that flows through our mouths into the spiritual atmosphere, touching the heart of the Father. There is so much to say about this but this is just a nugget of prophetic truth for today.

Aligned With the Wind of the Spirit

cropped-cropped-photo2.jpgI had the incredible opportunity to share the message this past Sunday at Isle Vista Church near University of California at Santa Barbara. The room was filled with awesome young adults passionate and so hungry for God. What a joy!

I ministered and was ministered to by many of them. It was an honor! There’s something about this generation just sets me on fire. I love it.

I learned something during the course of the evening about “me” and my call, the way God wired me inside. These are things I basically knew deep within me but this particular night, confirmations by Holy Spirit exploded within my spirit. I am a woman of the Spirit and a woman of flow – as the Spirit leads, I follow.

Over the years a tension always rose up in me before I preached. As hard as I have tried to BE someone who stayed with the script, thinking that this gained credibility to be balanced and normal. I have never actually done it. Ha! I tried to be polished and teacher-like expounding the Word with finesse and wisdom. I tried to live up to expectations that I placed within myself, but I never did. As soon as the anointing begins to flow – I flow, listen and obey. It always turns out to be a glorious time when I rest in Christ. In the process, people are truly ministered to in unique ways.

It all came to the forefront and suddenly there is no tension. Whether understood or not understood by people, I pray and study and worship and then the river flows in ministry. I find myself to be a Holy Spirit orchestrator to some extent. Sunday night, the anointing flowed so smooth, so strong and so easy as I simply rested in who God has made me to be – a woman of the spirit. Holy Spirit……………..

God bless the teachers in Christ. Yet, I find that for myself I spend time in His presence and in His word and then…….the river flows and is flowing greater each day. Moving prophetically to the sound of heaven is birthing a new awe and wonder of Christ in my life. My prayer is to speak words of spirit, life and truth. That is now for me.

What am I saying? There is creative diversity in the Body of Christ. We are all needed in unique ways to preach Christ. Find your flow and stay within its creative flow, moving in the Spirit in the way deep down you are created to be.

Today Garris Elkins confirmed this to me in a word posted on Facebook.

Holy Spirit GiftsAligned with the Wind of the Spirit

You are entering a strategic season. In this season your primary task will be to make sure you are properly aligned with the coming wind of the Spirit. This alignment will position you to move forward when the wind begins to blow.

As a sailing vessel adjusts its sails to embrace the full power and energy of the wind, so it is with this season in your life. Make sure you have adjusted your life to align with the wind of the Spirit instead of trying to adjust the wind to fit your life. Bringing the proper adjustments will create the alignment required to put you in position to move forward.

If the sails of the most perfectly designed world-class sailing vessel are not rightly aligned to embrace the full potential of the wind it will be dead in the water and passed by the smallest home-built sailboat whose sails are in right relationship to the wind. In this season size, potential and personal history will mean nothing unless you are in proper alignment with the wind of the Spirit.

God is opening doors for us that no man can shut but I also realized that for so many years, He kept many doors shut by His grace to arrive in this place of glory.

Freedom in Holy Spirit

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17) What is freedom? We talk about it. Sing about it. Preach about it. Yet, I see so many Christians living defeated, discouraged, depressed lives – tossed around by the waves of chaos and confusion that are trying to overtake the world.

Cross of Flowing watersWhere the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. The Holy Spirit is in me. The Spirit leads me. I walk in the Spirit. He is not vague, or mysterious as to only be for those more spiritual looking and sounding.

Holy Spirit is filled with passion and purpose in my life. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, in me and with me, there is freedom flowing out from me. Freedom forms the foundation of my life, the very core of my being. Freedom, not just in a meeting. Not just in times set apart for worship and prayer. Now, always, forever. Holy Spirit lives and moves in my life.

Here’s the deal. We can’t divorce the Trinity into manageable components of only what we like, taking Jesus because He appears to be more understandable . Or wanting the Father because He is all about that love. We have Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is a mystery to many. Yet, this mystery longs to be unveiled, moving in our lives, revealing Christ, giving us direction, igniting our lives with the fire of God………..

Freedom in Holy Spirit brings liberation from the confines of the Law of Moses, an Old Covenant reality, which can veil, restricts and hides the face of Christ in the New Covenant. Maybe the law of Moses, Old Covenant, is not openly preached as such yet wherever there is a performance based structure that thrives on a religion based on law, rules, or performance to draw close to God, there is a mixture of Old Covenant and New Covenant. There is no more veil in Christ. The veil is removed.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Many leaders are afraid of Holy Spirit. They inhibit the movement of the Spirit, trying to legislate God’s glory through control. Many avoid the gifts of the Spirit, or even manipulate the moving of the Spirit to keep it contained according to man-made wisdom and its accompanying action. The Holy Spirit is gentle but at times can be wild – Holy Spirit will not be confined to our agenda.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. This freedom is more than what is exhibited in a typical Charismatic service even with manifestations. Manifestations do not indicate an atmosphere of freedom in the Spirit.

How many times did we, as Charismatics, look down on those who did not appear to walk in the Spirit, speak in tongues, or manifest His presence in some way? Even in a service of this type, there can still be preached a mixture of grace and law where people shake but are not free.

breaking chainsFreedom in the Spirit is also more than the current trend of social justice movements flowing through evangelical churches. Without Christ leading the way and without the Spirit flowing through the movement, revealing Christ, it is still devoid of true freedom. Many may be quick to look down on Charismatics as being shallow, without substance yet these movements can be orchestrated by the law of performance and man’s wisdom, without Jesus being at the center.

This freedom talked about in 2 Corinthians 3:17 is deep and profound, changing and transforming individuals first in a revelation of a New Covenant reality. As individuals are changed, a corporate expression of Christ will soon then flow.

This freedom is the core and everything else flows out from it in accompanying action. Unless we are tuned into what the New Covenant has given us in Christ, we are still walking in mixture of grace and law. In that sense, our eyes may still be veiled from the reality of Christ Jesus.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17 NKJV)

This freedom does not subvert or downplay the beautiful reality of grace and the finished work of the cross. It is not a spontaneous, do whatever you want when you want it, total disregard for Scripture, I am free so don’t have to do anything but live by my own definition of grace type of freedom. Look at the context of the verses before it.

For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. (2 Corinthians 3:9-11 NKJV)

What came through the Old Covenant in glory? Glory but there is a more excellent way when we see and take hold of the glory that excels in Christ. That is freedom.

Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech — 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. (2 Corinthians 3:12-16 NKJV)

Paul is talking about the New Covenant in Christ, in Holy Spirit BEING a more excellent way than the way of Moses under the New Covenant.

The veil is removed. There is no obstruction to our seeing the face of Christ. Holy Spirit leads us into greater revelation of Christ.

In Christ, we are going from glory to glory to glory, shining bright with the light and life of Christ in me and in you.

As a Charismatic, I saw manifestations sensationalized in order to qualify the presence of Holy Spirit thereby often downplaying his passion and purpose which is to reveal  Christ in us, the hope of glory. We cried out to God for hours shaking and falling, trying to get His attention, as the veil covered our eyes to the fact that we are in Christ. Being in Christ, the external gyrations were not necessary and did not bring freedom, only a hunger for more manifestations. What a mess we were! Thank God for grace!

A heart of freedom in Holy Spirit grows within an individual who is awakened to their life in Christ and God’s unconditional love for them giving the Spirit to navigate this life with a divine connection to heaven.

As we are awakened to grace and our freedom in Christ, the overflow of that freedom brings a life of unveiled intimacy with the Lord in Holy Spirit. In this, there is desire and passion, which awakens within to live, move and have your being in the unconditional life and love of Christ. The overflow of this life, first individually and corporately, is an overflow of everything else – gifts, manifestation, and justice. We are in sync with God, abiding in Him doing what He is doing in the world today. We are at rest in His moving in our lives. At rest in peace in a time of war and chaos.

Freedom begins within – knowing Christ in me, Christ in you. That is a good place to start. I love you Holy Spirit.

Quotes about Journey, Transition and Adventure in Christ

To follow Jesus is not to demand road signs but to respond to the voice of the Spirit along the way. When we do that, we discover that life is not a blueprint but a blue sky of possibility – filled not only with order and ordinances but also with over-the-rainbow potential. When we embrace the wings of the Spirit, we can soar to unlimited heights. When we try to capture or tie those wings down and paste them into our rulebooks and strategic planners, all we get are dead butterflies in a glass.

These quotes are  from “I Am a Follower: The Way, Truth and Life of Following Jesus” by Leonard Sweet.

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.”
Martin Buber

“Church culture has fashioned an addiction to safety and security. If we cannot plot a future path with visible surety, then we cannot imagine God would call us or lead us down it. But the way of the cross is one of trust, and it is trust that leads us to obedience in following the Master wherever He leads.”

Embrace the Mystery“Travel with Jesus. Journey on. You don’t get the answers before the questions. You get the answers, or you learn to live with the questions as you go with Jesus.”

“To journey with Jesus is to be in forward motion.”

“Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown?
Will you let my name be known?
Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?”
John L. Bell: “The Summons”

“The true meaning of any person’s life story is not found in the destinations but in the transitions.”

“Faith is the acceptance of an invitation to join Jesus on His journey and to live life in the mystery of God made flesh.”
