To Gaze or to Glance -That is the Question – Truth waits for your answer

EyeI look at Truth. Truth looks at me. What I perceive at that moment is just the tip of the iceberg. He desires to fix His gaze on me so that I gaze upon Him. To gaze or to glance? I prefer to gaze so that the depths of who He is expands in my life and I truly live, not exist, but live in Christ.

Gazing is not staring. Staring is mindlessly looking without comprehension. Gazing looks deep into His eyes to find myself for that is where my identity lies.

Sometimes I flounder in perception – those ‘things’ about Him that I know based upon my own fears, insecurity and doubts. Is He really that good? Is His love for me that strong and sure?

Gazing requires strength to look truth right in the eye, fearlessly – to know that I am accepted in the Beloved.

To know Truth starts with perception but it can’t stay there. Go deep and gaze. Right where you are – all your stuff, your fears, your failures. Gaze. That’s the key to life.

What at first glance is perceived must then be believed and received deep within our being. Perception of truth is not enough. To engage with Truth is the essence of life. That is when we truly live. Life in all its glory in Christ, the joy, the sorrow, the pain, and the pleasure…………Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

Revelation in Christ is so deep, so wide, and so high. Imagine this. We stand on the shore of a vast ocean, so vast that the great expanse of its beauty and magnitude before us can be so intimidating and so fearful that we never leave the shore. That’s how it is with many Christians. They hang out on the shoreline of perception and that is all they want and need in Christ. That’s religion, not relationship.

Christ bids us to come and to walk upon the water with Him so that He may reveal Himself to us. His grace empowers our walk. His glory reveals His person.

My vision today.  I saw myself on the shoreline and immediately this verse was given to me. Today, I give it to you.

To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. Ephesians 3:8

This is an apostolic directive for all of us today. To preach the unsearchable riches of Jesus while walking in grace on a vast expansive ocean of revelation. To preach eternity while living in the now. To rise up from dormancy to awake in passion. Go right up to that ocean and step out.

Ocean Golden WaveHe opens up the way and with each wave comes revelation to those willing to seek Him. If we seek Him, He is gracious and faithful to reveal Himself to us.

Truth lays out a path right on the waves. In fear we step out but we must remember that there is no fear in love. So step out, even in fear for that fear will vanish in the presence of His glory. Holy Spirit is our compass, our navigational system that sets us out upon the waters.

We may look foolish. Okay, we will look foolish to those still standing on the shore, waiting. Waiting for what?

Truth is a mystery that is eternal reality. We find it expanded in step by step obedience and trust. He is our life in the here and now, the earthly realm yet we walk in eternity now in our hearts.

Truth opens up our eyes with light as we step out. Don’t run away from this light. Light shines in the face of Christ. Gaze at Him as we walk upon the waves. Don’t look down.

Remember Peter? When He looked at the waves, taking His eyes off of Jesus, he sank. Learn to gaze at Him in the midst of fear, worry anxiety.

We may want to go back to the safety of the shore but Jesus whispers, “Trust Me. Let’s go father out. Walk away from that place of safety that you’ve constructed within the parameters of your life. I’ve so much more to reveal to you.”

Truth becomes the lens of our life in Christ. He desires us to see with Kingdom perspective. The ocean depths prepare us to trust and obey.

These posts will lift you higher, away from earthly concerns if just for a moment so that you may see you are seated in heavenly places.

Born from above, our lives expand in harmony within heaven’s revelation of our identity in Christ.

How do I walk in this reality? It is my life, interwoven into my being. I’m not content with passive man-made Christianity.

Each morning,  I pray and meditate for about one hour with one of my French Bulldogs on my lap. Holy Spirit directs my mind and my heart in meditations for the day. Today, as I walked upon the water, He whispered this verse.

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit. John 3:8

This confirms that in the depth of my heart, I accept adventure and journey in Christ. It is a life in the Spirit for I am born of the Spirit through salvation in Jesus. Who ever told you Christianity is outdated or boring? They either lied or have only experienced religion. Look again.

Creating Beauty While Living In A World of Chaos

I live in the world, but as a Christian, I am not of the world. My identity is formed in Christ in me. I am seated in heavenly places. I am a new creation in Christ. There are many verses to substantiate these claims in previous blogs. So let’s rest on this sure foundation – we are in Christ in the world.

Walking towards the lightThis world thrives in the midst of tension and chaos. Unsettling on every front, current events drive us either into a sense a fear or subtle escapism. In Christ, I choose to bow my knee to neither.

Perfect love casts out fear. As the love of Christ flows into my life, fear evaporates in the glory of His presence.

Escapism is also not an option. I am a creative realist – taking what life seemingly throws at me, I keep on moving. Life is too precious in Christ to admit defeat AND if there are days that get me down, I rise up and stay strong as soon as possible.

So many of my thoughts are flowing from an excellent article written by NT Wright, The Bible and Christian Imagination.

Here we have the world at large – both beautiful and ugly.

“Seeing one does not defy the existence of the other.” NT Wright

PaintbrushSo, it seemingly depends upon my spiritual vision more than my natural vision to live creativity, manifesting beauty through my life. If I gaze upon the reality of ugliness, which abounds on every side, beauty is hidden from me. Beauty does exist and it is beauty that I must gaze upon. It is beauty and truth that capture writers. It is beauty and wonder that excites the artist. We live by gazing upon the beauty of the Lord Jesus Christ and reflecting His glory through our life and our creativity. I move in an opposing spirit to that which tries to weigh me down in chaos, death and destruction. It is beauty that astonishes the eye. Beauty grabs the heart to dream. Eternity calls us to come into its reality, here and now.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NKJV)

I struggle. I suffer. Yet all things are working in Christ to display an exceeding weight of glory in my life, now and forever. I choose to look at the reality of eternity to interject beauty and truth into people that are downcast, distraught, abandoned or feeling insignificant and small. In Christ, I am light in the midst of darkness. Eternity is my reality. I am passing through all of this as a Christian. I keep my eyes focused on Christ and keep walking, being sure that I am called and chosen for such a time as this. Of that I am quite sure.

Imagination flows through an informed study and meditation of Scripture. That brings eternity right into the midst. It does not yet take me out of the world but opens my eyes to see by faith. I walk in my sanctified imagination to bring creativity into the earth.

While ministering in the poor areas of Eldoret, Kenya many years ago, the Lord specifically told me to preach on beauty. This astounded me and left me somewhat bewildered. As I looked around, I saw only poverty and lack. Many people living there hardly thought about beauty. Their concentration was on daily subsistence and living one day at a time. At least that is what I thought.

Deep inside I realized how wrong I actually was. Despite poverty and lack, people hold dreams and visions within their hearts. They often don’t realize it. They don’t feel the freedom to even accept the fact that they can dream in the midst of life’s trials. To preach on beauty seemed irrelevant and superfluous. Yet God kept telling me to preach on beauty so I did, off the cuff, which means flowing in Holy Spirit. I preached on gazing on His beauty. I preached on ascending in worship. I preached on displaying His glory right where they lived.

We are called to co-create with God and in God through revelation, ideas, and directions given to us in Holy Spirit.

To create beauty in the midst of tension, poverty, or lack.

To dream in the midst of encroaching darkness.

To engage with reality right where we are, living, moving and having our being in Christ.

To take our little corner of the world and to manifest heaven on earth, stirring up hope and possibility everywhere we are.

No one is beyond manifesting beauty and truth right now. No one. No matter how deep the inner and outer poverty we live in, we are called to gaze upon His beauty and reflect His glory. To show forth His beauty through the creative expression of Christ in us, the hope of glory.

Rise up today from fear! Creativity takes courage to rise up and to actually create! Start right where you are in Christ. One idea may challenge us to move out in a Holy Spirit faith direction. Lacking money or time does not divert our sense of purpose. Rejection does not hinder us. We live by faith in the Son of God who consistently tells us to dream big. He whispers that nothing is impossible in Him.

I write to inspire today. This subject is part of my DNA in Christ so I can’t shut it off or turn it down. Each time I write, I give small pieces and ask you to run with it. To finish this story within yourself through your own life. I always desire closure when I get close to the end of a blog post. I almost never get it for it is bigger than me right now. Creativity is my passion, my life. Enjoy! Think. Meditate. Dream.

Imagination – In Christ

Ladder to skyChristian imagination evokes both negative and positive feelings in people.

In studying this each day. I conclude that Imagination is the connector between mind/heart giving us images, pictures, revelation – in essence, bringing heaven to earth. The mind and the heart, working together.

The Greeks thought that the mind was rational and good, discounting the heart/emotions as being less superior. As Christians, we know better as our salvation is wholly in Christ without separation and fragmentation. The mind/heart is as one and as Greg Boyd points out: The mind is the thinking side of the heart. The heart is the feeling side of the mind.

Discernment keeps us focused on Christ in the power of Holy Spirit and does not lead us astray into error. Christian imagination – pictures and images formed in our mind/heart and as our lives are surrendered to Christ Jesus. Our minds are renewed and being renewed and our hearts are turned to behold the One we love in all His glory…………the veil is lifted off in Christ and off we go in complete freedom of expression and thought of heaven now

I am starting out on this journey wholly focused on this subject in all ways. I don’t throw the baby out with the bath water simply because the new age has adopted visualization techniques. How absurd!

So excited! This has always been in my mind/heart but timing is everything. It is time now to raise up a creative force in the Body of Christ. How? One step at a time. When? Now.

Processing day by day. Enjoy Creative Declaration and Courage in All ways – Especially Being Creative
