Truth is not always what the majority say is truth

CrossThe crowd cries out with vengeance in their heart. “Crucify Him!” A remnant of people look at Him, their hearts imploding with sorrow. They want to run from this insanity playing out before their eyes, but they can’t. Dedication. Adoration. Love. This keeps them in the margins, without power, yet feeling pain.

Truth dies a slow death, as a majority continues to demand vengeance. “Crucify Him!”

There He is. Their Savior. Their healer. Their deliverer. Bruised, broken and bleeding.

Truth is not always what the majority say is truth. Jesus is the perfect example. He stood in their midst, often silent, without defense or any type of provocation, no need to prove Himself. The religious condemned Him from the start just for being who He actually was, Truth Incarnate. He was in their midst, but they did not see.

Again it hits me. Truth is not always what the majority say is truth. I can be sure that when I choose to follow Truth, my eyes open to see Him as He is, to follow Him where He leads, and to know Him with eyes wide open. I can be sure that on this path, many will cry out for my own destruction if I stand against the grain of popular opinion or political correctness. To proclaim that Jesus is the way offends many who don’t want to acknowledge Him Savior or follow Him as Lord.

How do we who follow Christ respond to this vengeance? This attack against righteousness? Oh, do I hear you say that you have not experienced this? Then I would question what way you actually follow, what path do you walk, what Lord do you acknowledge.

All who follow the Lord truly follow Him into a narrow place of proclamation of His great love and mercy towards humanity will be persecuted. Narrow place? What do I mean by that? Not narrow in the sense of judgment and condemnation. Narrow in the sense of living a life contrary to the world at large. Living a life from a kingdom position sitting in heavenly places. To follow this truth will cost us everything – our lives, our reputation. Anything less than that is simply a watered down version of Christianity.

So many Christians stand in the margins, looking at Truth, grieved that it is dying in our midst, but out of a sense of being safe, secure, and comfortable, they stay hidden. But, for those who want to step out it will cost us.

Truth positions us in the crossfire of cultural insanity and political correctness. Don’t think for one minute that those who are with you now will not also cry out “Crucify Him” or “Crucify Her” tomorrow. Truth will always cost us something. It appears to me that it is often in the American church where Christianity requires nothing more than a verbal affirmation of belief while denying the power of life lived following Christ.

It’s time to come away from the margins, into the middle of the fray. To stand for Truth despite anything that would come our way. Don’t look for the majority to follow you. They won’t. Trust me. They won’t. To truly live for Christ in a deep personal relationship, you will be persecuted and looked upon as an anomaly by a majority who rule. Come out anyway. Stand for something or stand for nothing.

He says, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me.” He is the answer. He is the way.

To rise up in this revelation is to be revolutionary. Yet, we rise up, not in self-righteousness but willing to die so that His life lives in and through us. To live is Christ. To die is gain.

Truth set in cementTruth is not always what the majority say or what the majority want. In my opinion, we love to follow in the wake of other’s beliefs. Or, we create a god in our own image, with all the perks that come with this so as to live a life free of commitment and confrontation.

A shepherd boy named David stood for truth and because of this stood against Goliath when everyone else turned away. His own brothers doubted his character, mocking him because of his youth and lack of experience.

Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.” And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?” Then he turned from him toward another and said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did. 1 Samuel 17:28-30

Is there not a cause? Here it is again as I look at David. Truth rises up against a majority who see life through a different lens. This is life. I can give you example after example of those who stand in truth amidst opposition and persecution. I challenge each of us to stand for Truth, Jesus Christ. We stand in humility, grace and love alongside power, passion and conviction. There is a cost to be paid. Thank God, Jesus paid it with His own life.

The world is in chaos and truth is falling, falling, falling all around us. There is a way though – a way of trust, joy, obedience, love, hope, mercy, goodness, grace……..it’s all in Christ. To follow Him is to walk in truth in this life. The majority may disdain us, abhor us, ignore us and persecute. Yet, we walk in Truth. He leads the way.

Meditate on these words of Jesus.

John 14:6 (NKJV Strong’s,) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Matthew 16:24-26 (MSG) Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. 25 Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. 26 What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?

I Will Guide You

Brian Simmons

While waiting quietly upon the Lord, I heard Him whisper…“I will guide you”

Image 3My ways of directing your life, my special one, are both unusual and specific. I have never once led you astray or brought you to a place unintended. Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have brought you safely through. Can you see My guidance? Can you discern My hand upon your shoulder? I have never left you alone. I will guide you, My child, for the rest of your days on earth.

When I lead you I strengthen you. My hand of power goes with you even into places you call “confusion.” When the skies grow dark and the light of understanding seems clouded to your eyes, I am there with power to bring you through the storm. You are never lost, beloved child, for I am near. I will guide you.

Leave the choice to Me and I will choose what is best for you. When you walk in faith, holding My hand, your steps will be ordered by My love for you. I am your Father, who knows always what is best, and will lead you into the confidence of My heart. Rest in quiet trust, I will guide you.

Open DoorThe path I have chosen for you will not make you weary and discouraged. Open your heart to the light of My love and you will find My ways are pleasant and My paths lead you to the brooks of bliss, the quiet streams of encounter.Though you may not see Me, trust in Me, O longing soul, trust in Me and I will never disappoint you. I will guide you, for we are joined as one.

Proverbs 4:10-12 The Passion Translation
“My sons, if you will take the time to stop and listen to me and embrace what I say, you will live a long and happy life full of understanding in every way. I have taken you by the hand in wisdom’s ways, pointing you to the path of integrity. Your progress will have no limits when you come along with me, and you will never stumble as you walk along the way.

Hidden? Prepare To Be Provoked

Einstein WomenWhen I am hidden (and it is for a season) I must discern the times. Discern = to separate, to perceive, to recognize. To discern the times, I look at this season through the eyes of eternity. I perceive its purpose in my life. I separate the truth from the lie.

Eternity’s sound: I am hidden in plain sight to prepare me.

Earth resounds with a lie: I am disqualified, hidden forever in obscurity because, let’s face it, I can’t cut it.

Hiddenness is a good thing. It’s a place to breathe, to rest and to gain a clear perspective. All around us, there is a tension between what heaven says and what the earth realm says. In the earth, tension is rewarded, busyness, business, and moving, constantly moving. In the eternal, rest is the greatest commodity. Resting and hearing the heavenly directive to move as Holy Spirit opens up the path. I choose the latter way, even if it hurts at times.

Discernment is critical in the season at hand. How do I perceive all of this? Being hidden in plain sight. Is what I am going through from God’s hand or someplace else? Is it a time of preparation or provocation from the enemy? Well it’s both.

I am reading Steven Pressfield: Do The Work. He talks about ‘resistance’. The resistance that comes from the universe itself each time we undertake to live a creative life: it’s all around us. I prefer to call this resistance by a name: the devil. Do what you like with the term or concept. Many may laugh at this or discount it but that does not negate the reality of evil to try to subvert and destroy our destiny in Christ. To a Christian, the enemy is real. His purpose: to steal, kill, and to destroy.

The enemy ALWAYS seeks to get you out of God’s timing.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 NKJVS)

Jesus knew this and discerned this. He stayed in sync with God and in the timing of heaven. Yet, the enemy was ALWAYS, in some form, attempting to pull Him out of His eternal path. Jesus often said, “My timing has not yet come.” Stay in time with the sound of eternity and we will reach our destination.

Hiddenness move into our time to prepare us. This preparation runs side by side with the provocation of the enemy, which I blogged about in the last post.

Don’t give in to the accusations, which only serve to hinder your forward movement in time. In the midst of being hidden, while being prepared for a moment of breakthrough into greater responsibility and authority, remember we have to focus on the big picture that is before us. We then take steps, day by day, one at a time, to get to that place in the Spirit that is ordained for us to walk out in the earthly realm. How many get out of sync because they want to break out, come out prematurely? Not a good thing.

There is much preparation being done for breakthrough before breakthrough. That is why I can declare breakthrough and not yet see it. Behind the scenes is where so much is going on. I have to believe that. I do believe that for my God is faithful.

That is why I must discern the time, the right NOW that is leading me away from the past into the next step, the future. It is not a good thing to get bogged down in what happened in the past. I can look at the reality of what happened in the past and take it personally as an indictment against me and the reason as to why I am standing in this hidden place. I place condemnation upon my life because I am being chastised for what I did or did not do in the past.

Hiddenness in plain sight is a promotional time for me, even if I do not quite get it or see it. It is. Even when the accusations hit strong and hard, even when I am at the edge of not being able to take being passed over one more time. What keeps me going? It is Jesus and my love and passion for Him and His plan for my life. I submit to His restraining hand…totally blind and perhaps in the dark in my own understanding about the time. I submit out of love. No other reason. I love Him and I know He loves me. It is in the hiddenness that His love reveals itself to me, strong and sure. His love. Not as I understand love to be, but a love that is sure and real. A love that prepares the way in front of me (even in the darkness) in the midst of provocation and says, “Keep on walking.”

Thanks for following me in this blog. I am writing as I am walking and seeing, one step at a time. I don’t know where this is heading but I trust Him. Will I look like a fool if nothing works out and yet, I am writing all of this? Well, that may be one way to look at it but I can’t look at it that way. I know it will work out and this testimony will build all of our faith.

Question? Comments? I would love to hear from you. Are you hidden in plain sight? In your job, ministry, day-to-day life? How does it make you feel? Do you see it as a time of preparation or a time of disqualification? Comments?
