The Noisy Now

Sound Waves From MouthThe Noisy Now – demanding, resounding, and LOUD.

It’s an atmosphere built upon words, and words and more words. People constantly talking, about everything and at the same time about nothing. Spend any amount of time on social media and the Noisy Now demands attention. In fact, not only does it demand attention, it makes me feel that if I don’t listen, or watch, or comment or like………….I WILL MISS OUT, BE LEFT OUT. What then? Is it necessary to always be in the mix? I don’t think so. God IS the mix and wherever I am, He is. So I don’t take my cues by the Noisy Now but from all that I glean in the silence of His presence.

If I let it, the Noisy Now manipulates me into its path intent on capturing my time. Live videos, urgent posts, pictures – before I know it, an hour flies by, then two and three. It tries to imprisons me in the grasp of its insignificant sound.

Social media has overstepped its bounds in my life so I pulled the plug, giving it no attention whatsoever unless it serves my purpose. No more entitled people, bent on arguments and constant streaming of every last thought, coming into my head. Out! Out!

This all started when I looked down my news feed on Facebook and actually got stressed out by all that I was seeing. Whether I agreed with it or not, I was tired of it all. It was as if unless I checked into the Noisy Now each and every day, my life would fade into oblivion  or lack significance. This is a dangerous place to be where I blend into every sound that is coming down the line. I will lose my voice here and I will be nothing more than an echo of all that is going on around me. No! No more!

There’s an undercurrent flowing under this noisy now. It seems that we want to be listened to, for someone to show us that our life matters. When it gets to the point where all the noise distracts me, using up precious time, I retreat into silence, into intimacy with Jesus Christ. I value alone time, silence. This is my message of impartation to those younger than me. Be quiet, get alone with Jesus to find yourself, to find out who you are and why you were born into such a time as this.

The Noisy Now is not something I want to get used to, not at all. I don’t want to be a hermit but I want to treasure silence with as much expectation as when I click on every link or picture in social media, hoping it will take me on a new adventure. It doesn’t do that but Jesus will – in the silence.

img_7240This is a message that I want to get across to a younger generation – to get away, to think. Thinking is good for the soul. As a Christian, meditation builds up and strengthens my spirit. I live in the spirit, not in the noise. Life in the spirit contradicts the noise. How can I get any direction for my life without meditative silence where I can think and hear Him?

Times of intimacy with Jesus preserves my sanity, strengthens me, and builds up my identity and faith. Quiet purges away the distractions, setting me on a path to walk in clarity of mind and strength of spirit.

There are whirlwinds of endless words trying to carry me away into confusion or distraction. In silence I gain wisdom and understanding about my life. To my younger brothers and sisters…….unplug and tune into Jesus and the Holy Spirit. In His presence are wisdom, peace, guidance, and direction.

Jesus calls us away, to come apart to spend time with Him. Be still and know that He is God. Don’t be swept away by the Noisy Now.Be still.

This is short and powerful about being thankful in the midst of losing hope, feeling out of it all, loss, grief……..goes hand in hand with the past few blog posts on hope. Breathe and savor the blessing from the video.

Hope Revisited

Hope. I keep thinking about hope. I wrote about it in a previous blog post. Then a clear message of hope came out in the Creative Renaissance Conference I attended this past weekend at Upper Room Dallas.

Hope flowed out through several prophetic songs. A prophetic word declared hope in the midst of delay. It also wound its way through the preaching.

Hope in HandHope restored in our lives, singing it out or speaking it out or dancing it out, all implying the same thing – many need to hear a message of hope. God breathed hope throughout the weekend. He’s right here, within me, around me – He is faithful, no matter what it looks like.

Hope embeds itself in the foundation of my life so as to combat the lies when I think about delay. Tweet That

When fog encircles me with accusations of insignificance, telling me that I am forgotten and left behind, I stand on hope. At times, it is all I have because nothing in the natural realm indicates that God’s promises are near to being fulfilled. I contend for hope in personal warfare through worshipping Jesus and by standing firm in the reality that He is faithful.

There is a present delay in promises fulfilled in my life. Whether it is a long-standing need for restoration in a family situation or finances for the ministry, I need hope to keep going, to keep walking one step at a time. I keep looking up and out at the horizon when I can’t see any fulfillment in the present. At those times, when hopelessness seems to be right there, waiting to be acknowledged, He surrounds me with His presence and His unfailing love. I keep walking.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

How many times have I heard that over the years?

Hope Filled JournalHopelessness is a powerful tool in the hands of the accuser. The enemy (and hopefully, you all realize there is a devil) loves to stir up hopelessness to demean the goodness of God. See it for what it is. Delays come and go but He is faithful.

Hopelessness feels like I am walking through a field that is stripped bare, dry ground with no sign of life apparent upon first glance. But then I keep looking. I look down and around to notice any small burst of life in seedling form. Anything at all. One small glimpse of something green coming out reminds me that He is with me, not against me. I may not understand His ways but I understand His love that He is for me, not against me. My vision syncs with the One who is faithful and I rise up and keep on walking.

His ways are not our ways. Ever heard this from someone in the midst of the struggle? It’s so cliché at the time but it’s truth. God forms my life through His eternal lens. Timing is not as important to God as it is to me. I want it now. Why? Fulfillment implies favor and favor implies success, acceptance and affirmation. Delay makes me feel I am without favor and definitely without a sense of purpose, out of the mix, and forgotten. Delay……..it sucks.

But I choose to hope and I keep walking. I emphasize that I must keep walking towards the horizon. To stand still is paralysis and with that comes fear that erodes my faith. I hope at what can’t be seen but at the One who is faithful.

Any delays in your life right now? How do you walk through those times, keeping in your heart that God is faithful to complete that which He started in you.

Truth Staggers Down The Street

Truth is lost in the midst of cultural noise and political correctness. Words blast their way into the atmosphere on a daily basis. They continually try to change our minds and destroy our thought processes from seeking what is real, what is true. Words are a vehicle by which truth is moved along so if you distort words, trying to change their meaning from what is originally intended, it is easier to control people through deception, dilution and distortion.

Words Words WordsThis is not a new thing. If fact it is an old thing and I only need look at a verse in the OT to speak truth into this very problem.

Justice is beaten back, Righteousness is banished to the sidelines, Truth staggers down the street, Honesty is nowhere to be found. (Isaiah 59:14 Message)

Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; For truth is fallen in the street, And equity cannot enter. (Isaiah 59:14 NKJVS)

There is an attack on truth through the use of words that seem to be ever changing, evolving to bolster man’s political agenda or partisan way of life. Look around if you can and find truth in the midst of chaos. It is lost amidst word mixtures and word distortions.

The only way to navigate the treacherous waters ahead is through the only truth that exists to be found. Christ Jesus.

Jesus said to him, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6 NKJV)

Jesus said, “I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me. (John 14:6 Message)

Truth in Christ is true in any matter, under all circumstances in perfect reality. If one does not know Christ, one cannot comprehend truth. Truth in Christ in me is a life renewed with an excellent mind, able to perceive truth in the midst of deception. I am in union with Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit and in my life there is a perfect expression of Truth as I live, move and have my being in Him.

Many see Jesus as a lunatic for saying this pretentious statement in John 14:6. Listen to what C.S. Lewis says below.

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” C.S. Lewis – Mere Christianity.

Truth Will Set You FreeA battle rages for truth. People desperately desire truth. Truth is in Christ. Truth is Christ Jesus. Truth is found in Christ and the outflow of His teachings, His person, and His oneness in the Father. That forms the simplicity of my life, the way this blog will flow and the prophetic nature of speaking forth hope into a chaotic future that exists in the world apart from Christ.

Prophetically speaking I would say that confusion rules the atmosphere in this present day. Yet that is not a reality for those hidden in Christ Jesus. We are able to see and to hear beyond what is being shown us and far beyond what is being said. We hear truth beyond words that seem to bolster political agendas or foster partisan belief. There is a sound behind the sound when one is discerning to truly hear. God will reveal His heart to us and through us in Christ.

Look no further than the simplicity that is found in Christ for the coming days will toss us back and forth on the winds of change if we are not anchored in the truth of the divine words of Scripture. Make no mistake, we desire to see hope restored and peace reign in our midst but this is an impossibility apart from Christ ruling and reigning in the power of His kingdom that dwells first in the heart of His people and flows out in its necessary power…..now and in the days ahead.

Hope is restored. Peace is maintained. Lives are lived contrary to the prevailing atmosphere of humanistic logic and wisdom. How can one find this? How can one live in direct opposition to fear, distress, and hopelessness? In Christ. Rise up and live above in heavenly places, where we are seated in Christ Jesus.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4 NKJVS)

This is a simple way to start the New Year prophetically speaking. We must disregard the extraneous things pulling on our lives on a daily basis.  They only seek to take us into a reality bound by fear and distress. There is a better way, a more excellent way and those who seek Him will find Him. The promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus. He never leaves us or forsakes us.

Start today. Spend time alone with the Lord. Learn to hear His voice and respond to His overtures of love to you. In this time set apart we will develop a hearing ear and discerning eyes to follow Him in the midst of the coming storms. We will walk in peace and hope and love despite anything that tries to come against us, uproot us or destroy us.

O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 13For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalms 139:1-3, 7, 13-14, 23-24 NKJVS)

Time to Move On – In Time – Let the Light In!

Hi Everyone!

This week it’s time to rest, think and meditate on the year ahead. So I hope you enjoy reading some great posts from 2015.

Trapped In Time By People’s Judgements – Move On!
Have you ever felt that no matter what you did, you could not break free from what people thought of you – their judgments and opinions? When that happens, I realized a long time ago that it is because people entrap you into a place in time, a moment where something happened between you and them. There is pain in that moment in time for whatever reason – failure, betrayal, anger and more. I may have been a part of it. I may have even caused it. But, as I repent, ask forgiveness and forgive, I am free to move forward. Yet, that does not mean others will. Therein lies the problem. Read more…..

Adventure AwaitsMoving Through Time At God’s Pace
In this season, I find myself gliding through time observing and watching the moments- without an internal presumption of want to know or need to know. Often there is little interaction as situations swirl around me. It seems I am restrained from fully seeing but instructed to just keep on moving, keep on observing. Don’t speak…….yet. Read More…..

Open the Door! Pull Back the Curtains! Let the Light In!
The darkened areas of our lives, those places filled with fear, memories of abuse, sexual addictions, emotional destruction, substance abuse, alcoholism – all those places are like rooms yet to be opened in a house where Christ dwells. He sees them. We see them. We know they are there but we won’t confront their reality, let alone open the door to let the light of Christ into these dark areas. Read More…..
