There’s No There………..There

3294247795_7a63d3d340_zHave you heard the expression – “There’s no there…there”? It captures an image in my mind of someone continually walking, but never arriving at his or her destination.

I see so many people waiting for something or someone to take them out of their current reality to whisk them away to their ‘THERE’. That place where all is settled nicely into place. That next breakthrough. That next prophetic word. That next something or other.

You know that word in Isaiah that says that those who wait upon the Lord will rise up with wings as eagles. Well, I know many who are still waiting and waiting and waiting. I used to be one of them, feeling somewhat self-righteous and smug in my spirituality. No more. It’s time to risk it all to follow the Lord – possibility, faith and obedience being the key words.

Christianity is about life in Christ. He is my life now. So for me there is no ‘there’ to move into to find Him for He is right here within me. That reality has changed how I approach life on a daily basis. How I can walk in adventure and journey, believing that He is all I need now. Jesus is capable of leading me where He wants me to go to do what He wants me to do.

Sound Waves From MouthWhen I prophesy into someone’s life or even write prophetically, I prophesy from the revelation of the finished work of Christ on the cross. I prophesy from a position of breakthrough, of being seated in heavenly places, of being a child of God NOW not somewhere out THERE.

That is who I am and that is who you are in Christ, as a Christian. Our identity is secure in Him, fully settled in His sacrifice. I no longer strive to achieve anything more to add to his finished work but live in rest, His live flowing in and through mine.

Prophecy that causes anyone to strive or to enter into performance to produce anything is not of God. Yet, there are so many words being given that project us into our future, while negating the reality of our now.

Now we are seated in heavenly places.

Now I am complete in Christ.

Now I am loved.

Now I am accepted.

Now all the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ.

Now every spiritual blessing is mine in Christ.

That’s where I begin to write and prophesy. Now is the day of your salvation. What will we do within it?

To constantly tell people breakthrough is coming, revival is coming, and healing is coming negates the reality of what is here for us in Christ. Breakthrough is mine. Revival is mine. Healing is mine. Believe it. That forms the foundation of a prophetic life. The manifestation of healing or breakthrough may not seem apparent right now but they are complete, nonetheless. When we enter into the rest of this reality, we live from a position of our fulfilled life in Christ, not always searching for something more.

I prophesy that Jesus Himself has secured a life of abundance and blessing in Him. In Him is key to our understanding. I don’t strive to get more. I allow Him to live His life through me, which is a promised life of righteousness, peace and joy. It is a life that I will encounter suffering and persecution but in that I am positioned in His blessing and in His abundant life.

There are times of increased warfare in our lives. But, we don’t withdraw from life, waiting for it to pass. We stand, with an intensity to fight off the enemy through declaration of identity, not through shouting and yelling or trying to press harder and harder and harder. Everything is ours in Christ so we walk in that truth– through the ups and downs of life, through all its trials and sufferings.

This reality has changing everything about my prophetic journey. I don’t strive but find peace in Christ to live my life in the Spirit. Rest produces peace and clarity of vision. Rest increases my trust to believe in the promises of God now and to walk in their reality, one step at a time, moving forward in faith.

CrossI prophesy life to each of you reading this, the life of Christ flowing in and through you for victory over any and every circumstance that you encounter. Our relationship with Jesus, with the Father, with Holy Spirit assures us that He will always be with us, in the midst of our life struggles.

For those who struggle with answers nowhere in sight, start by believing that He is a good Father who loves you and only wants what is best for you NOW. When darkness hits and tries to drag you down, remember that He is with you, never leaving or forsaking you NOW. No matter what storm what difficulty, don’t retreat but run to Him and He will see you through…no over or under but through and you will be stronger through it all.

There’s no there…there. He’s right here with everything you need for life.

More in a few days……………..

Breakthrough – What exactly does that mean? Prophetically speaking

Breakthrough…I woke up the other day and saw that word right before my spiritual eyes.

Breakthrough!!!

Later that morning, I looked up the definition.

Breakthrough

  • Sudden increase in knowledge, understanding, etc.
  • An important discovery that happens after trying for a long time to understand or explain something.
  • A sudden advance, especially of knowledge or technique.
  • An act of sudden breaking.

I wanted to know its meaning because in the current round of prophetic words, it seems that words like breakthrough, new, or revival have become a bit cliché and overused. What is God saying through the word ‘breakthrough”? Are we making assumptions when we hear about breakthrough?

Breakthrough brings me UP, going from glory to glory and faith to faith. Up into a heavenly reality of being in Christ, seated in heavenly places. Going up signifies that I am in the world but not of the world. While living as a spiritual being, I still encounter trials of various kinds. Breakthrough never promises a life that is on coast mode without struggle. Breakthrough takes us up into a greater revelation of Christ in me and I walk in the earth realm with a heavenly mindset and perspective. I’ll never escape the reality of suffering. Let’s make that clear.

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy 1 Peter 4:12-13

I am breaking into greater revelation of Christ Jesus – His person, His purpose, my identity in Christ…

That may not always change outward circumstances immediately because breakthrough implies breaking through………some thing. What hinders me from seeing Christ in my current circumstances, as hard as they may be? Or as Graham Cooke says, “Where is my upgrade in what I am facing?” Sometimes breakthrough is slow and steady because God is more concerned with a life well lived rather than to pull us out of trying circumstances. Ouch! How often is that preached? Yet how many of us are going through hard times. Many, as far as I can see.

In my life right now, I sometimes feel bored and restless which can escalate into frustration or even anger. And I am in the midst of breakthrough. A breakthrough in spiritual vision to see Him in greater ways, a breakthrough in spiritual hearing to hear clearly, and a breakthrough to know Him more intimately. Some things around me in the natural are changing slowly while others are changing quicker but it’s all breakthrough into a greater dimension of a life lived to the glory of Jesus Christ.

So when prophetic words promise breakthrough, let’s respond in faith to accept the breakthrough rather than emotionally extend ourselves to think that all our problems will suddenly disappear. That’s not always how it goes, does it?

Break through to move ahead in spite of resistance, to worship despite trials and to praise despite anxiety or worry. Break through into living as a mature son and daughter accepting that His ways are higher but Father knows best.

Dreams will be fulfilled. Promises will be realized. All this flows supernaturally in Christ as we simply keep our eyes on Him at all times despite what we are facing. We are breaking through day by day as we grow in Christ. It’s not a destination. He’s the destination and we are completely and perfectly in Him. I have arrived. Breakthrough is the journey in Christ. So, enjoy the journey!

Moments of Retreat – Silence…Please

ListenYesterday, as I sat in my living room I listened to the silence. It whispered to me.

“Enter into a time of meditation with Christ Jesus.”

Moments of retreat I like to call them. Times of saturation while soaking in His presence. Each day, sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes 2 hours, I worship and pray. What’s important here is quality not quantity. This is not a hurried place. It is a place of a deep flow into my spirit.

Soaking – a modern word meaning to just BE with Him, without agenda, without time constraints.

Moment by moment, I am aware that in the silence there is a depth of revelation that is imparted to me just to BE me. In being, I understand my identity in Christ. His revelation to me in moments of retreat radiates into every cell of my being. He holds all things together, and that includes me.

Your (My) old life is dead. Your (My) new life, which is your (My) real life––even though invisible to spectators––is with Christ in God. He is your (My) life. Colossians 3:3 Message

How often are you busy, too busy to spend time with the Lord? No guilt here, none at all. Just a spiritual challenge, which will greatly enhance your life.

Are you on the go, prioritizing things in your busy life that will have no eternal significance…none at all? Consider taking time to retreat each day. Let Holy Spirit lead the way.

Before He called me apart yesterday, I felt frazzled and hurried. Questions assaulted my mind, trying to create distraction and confusion about my life.

“Where is this all going?”

“What’s next?”

“Where do I go from here?’

Tension seemed to rise in me like a wave that wanted to draw me down into its power. I felt insignificant in light of what I saw others doing. In comparing myself to others, I lost a sense of purpose in those moments and fear set in. This can often happen after an anointed, awesome time of ministry as we had in Poland last week.

My observation? I see so many trying to make themselves be seen, or heard, or noticed. Lives flowing in their own strength, trying to be in the mix and out there so as not to be forgotten. Post after post on social media. Constant interaction to affirm their identity to be someone in someplace doing something to boost their own sense of being.

But what about the silence? That’s the place of testing and trust. Can I be still in the silence, knowing that God Himself is orchestrating my life while I seemingly do nothing but worship? Yes, He does work on our behalf. There’s the beauty of it all. His ways are not our ways.

It is in these moments of retreat, I realize that I am known by the One who calls me to come apart. He knows me yet I don’t always know “Me” in Christ. To come away in times of quiet and prayer, I find myself in Christ. My life settles into worship and that constant tension within me that pulls me, trying to form me into the image of the world is silenced.

In Christ, there is an exchanged life. Unless I soak in that reality, I am tossed here and there upon the waves of the world’s chaos. This exchanged life is Christ in me, me in Christ…………my life hidden in Christ Jesus. My identity, my purpose and my destiny are in Christ. He draws us away to call us to Himself to BE ourselves.

Just BeI am brought into time by the hand of God, placed in my mother’s womb significantly and specifically. Think about that when chaos rules your life or worry is your default. If you feel out of sync with your own life, I call you into the deep away from shallow waters.

“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you.. Jeremiah 1:5 Message

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God––you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration––what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit-by-bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, the days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day. Psalms 139:13-16 Message

Enter into a time of silence. All else fades in comparison to the clarity you will encounter when you spend time alone with Jesus.

Look around. There is so much excessive movement among followers of Christ. Seeking validation in so many things and in so many ways.

This is what stirred in me yesterday so I want to encourage each of you today. Sitting alone in the silence, He knows me, knows everything about me. My life is in His hands. There is fullness in being still. The enemy knows this and tries every trick up his sleeve to keep me busy. Avoid that trap. More can be settled or apprehended in one hour with Jesus that most people can do in one full day.

Stillness imparts deep revelation of significance to the inner life. That is desperately needed among this young generation of Jesus followers. I challenge you to unplug and spend time with Jesus. He waits for you in that secret place.

It’s the stillness that births identity. Remember that. Take some time to BE with Him.

Look No More – You’re In!

No Place Like HomeSo often we look for a home, a place to settle, somewhere to fit in, to be seen……totally unseeing that as a Christian, we are IN Christ. He is our abiding place.

People rush here, there and everywhere trying to fit in and be part of something that will identify their purpose. Many seek associations of various kinds to justify their life and their call.

Look no further than Jesus and you will find the WAY in the Spirit that He calls us to walk. No matter where we go or visit, the simple realization is that no man calls us, promotes us, or sustains us in life. It is Jesus alone. So often we wait for the right ministry, network or person to give us some measure of affirmation and it is basically a waste of time. One can get what they desire if they cry out long enough, don’t we? We may find that we get what we really don’t want.

Our identity, purpose, calling…everything is In Christ. From that point Holy Spirit leads us in relationships with others to affirm and to form community with, often flowing forth in ministry.

I don’t identify my life, my being by any outward alignment but by an inward alignment – first in Christ and then with people He connects us with. It is becoming quite simple to me day by day by day.

Creating Beauty While Living In A World of Chaos

I live in the world, but as a Christian, I am not of the world. My identity is formed in Christ in me. I am seated in heavenly places. I am a new creation in Christ. There are many verses to substantiate these claims in previous blogs. So let’s rest on this sure foundation – we are in Christ in the world.

Walking towards the lightThis world thrives in the midst of tension and chaos. Unsettling on every front, current events drive us either into a sense a fear or subtle escapism. In Christ, I choose to bow my knee to neither.

Perfect love casts out fear. As the love of Christ flows into my life, fear evaporates in the glory of His presence.

Escapism is also not an option. I am a creative realist – taking what life seemingly throws at me, I keep on moving. Life is too precious in Christ to admit defeat AND if there are days that get me down, I rise up and stay strong as soon as possible.

So many of my thoughts are flowing from an excellent article written by NT Wright, The Bible and Christian Imagination.

Here we have the world at large – both beautiful and ugly.

“Seeing one does not defy the existence of the other.” NT Wright

PaintbrushSo, it seemingly depends upon my spiritual vision more than my natural vision to live creativity, manifesting beauty through my life. If I gaze upon the reality of ugliness, which abounds on every side, beauty is hidden from me. Beauty does exist and it is beauty that I must gaze upon. It is beauty and truth that capture writers. It is beauty and wonder that excites the artist. We live by gazing upon the beauty of the Lord Jesus Christ and reflecting His glory through our life and our creativity. I move in an opposing spirit to that which tries to weigh me down in chaos, death and destruction. It is beauty that astonishes the eye. Beauty grabs the heart to dream. Eternity calls us to come into its reality, here and now.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NKJV)

I struggle. I suffer. Yet all things are working in Christ to display an exceeding weight of glory in my life, now and forever. I choose to look at the reality of eternity to interject beauty and truth into people that are downcast, distraught, abandoned or feeling insignificant and small. In Christ, I am light in the midst of darkness. Eternity is my reality. I am passing through all of this as a Christian. I keep my eyes focused on Christ and keep walking, being sure that I am called and chosen for such a time as this. Of that I am quite sure.

Imagination flows through an informed study and meditation of Scripture. That brings eternity right into the midst. It does not yet take me out of the world but opens my eyes to see by faith. I walk in my sanctified imagination to bring creativity into the earth.

While ministering in the poor areas of Eldoret, Kenya many years ago, the Lord specifically told me to preach on beauty. This astounded me and left me somewhat bewildered. As I looked around, I saw only poverty and lack. Many people living there hardly thought about beauty. Their concentration was on daily subsistence and living one day at a time. At least that is what I thought.

Deep inside I realized how wrong I actually was. Despite poverty and lack, people hold dreams and visions within their hearts. They often don’t realize it. They don’t feel the freedom to even accept the fact that they can dream in the midst of life’s trials. To preach on beauty seemed irrelevant and superfluous. Yet God kept telling me to preach on beauty so I did, off the cuff, which means flowing in Holy Spirit. I preached on gazing on His beauty. I preached on ascending in worship. I preached on displaying His glory right where they lived.

We are called to co-create with God and in God through revelation, ideas, and directions given to us in Holy Spirit.

To create beauty in the midst of tension, poverty, or lack.

To dream in the midst of encroaching darkness.

To engage with reality right where we are, living, moving and having our being in Christ.

To take our little corner of the world and to manifest heaven on earth, stirring up hope and possibility everywhere we are.

No one is beyond manifesting beauty and truth right now. No one. No matter how deep the inner and outer poverty we live in, we are called to gaze upon His beauty and reflect His glory. To show forth His beauty through the creative expression of Christ in us, the hope of glory.

Rise up today from fear! Creativity takes courage to rise up and to actually create! Start right where you are in Christ. One idea may challenge us to move out in a Holy Spirit faith direction. Lacking money or time does not divert our sense of purpose. Rejection does not hinder us. We live by faith in the Son of God who consistently tells us to dream big. He whispers that nothing is impossible in Him.

I write to inspire today. This subject is part of my DNA in Christ so I can’t shut it off or turn it down. Each time I write, I give small pieces and ask you to run with it. To finish this story within yourself through your own life. I always desire closure when I get close to the end of a blog post. I almost never get it for it is bigger than me right now. Creativity is my passion, my life. Enjoy! Think. Meditate. Dream.
