Rivers of Eden Ministry – Creativity! This Is It!

Rivers of Eden Ministry…..Creativity Abounds in Christ Jesus

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. (Psalms 46:4 NKJVS)

Rivers of Eden – helping people live outside the box, calling them into their unique creative identity and expression in Christ Jesus.

He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. (Psalms 18:19 NKJVS)

Rivers of Eden – leading people into a broad place of identity and freedom, where Christ Jesus brings deliverance, healing and restoration.

As a creative force, Rivers of Eden imparts wholeness into the lives of people who have a creative bent given to them by God. Currently, we accomplish this vision in several ways.

Discipleship – Prophetic teaching focused on living, moving and having our being in Christ Jesus. (Acts 17:28) This discipleship is based on 4 distinct sections.

  1. Being in Christ– Establishing people in a clear revelation of their salvation and transformation in Christ, prophetically teaching on the beauty of the finished work of the cross of Christ.
  2. Living in Christ– Focusing on the reality that as new creations in Christ Jesus, we are seated in heavenly places giving a fresh perspective in how we live our lives on earth.
  3. Moving in Christ– Living our life in the Holy Spirit, supernaturally manifesting heaven on earth.
  4. Creative Expression in Christ– Each of us are the creative expressions of Christ in us, the hope of glory. Through revelatory prophetic teaching, people will rise up to BE creative in whatever sphere God has placed them in the earth. As we teach on creativity and its importance in the Body of Christ, people awaken into destiny.

Prophetic Gatherings – Expressing heaven’s creative flow, we allow the Holy Spirit to lead and direct us in prophetic preaching and worship. Our heart is to establish creative teams that flow and move in distinct creative ways under the orchestration of eternity.

Mentoring, Prophesying, and Encouragement – Each of us has a creative bent whether that be in the arts, in teaching, in business, or in administration. People need to be encouraged to BE in Christ in whatever sphere He places them in the earth. Our call is to bring creativity back into the Body of Christ so that the world sees Jesus in His glory and splendor. Each life, gathering, or church service should respond to heaven’s directive. As Holy Spirit creative orchestrators, we hope to establish a creative flow wherever God sends us through the presence, glory and power of God flowing through our lives.

To be Positioned to BE Present…….More Thoughts On This Journey

In creative ways, God graciously confirms His word to my spirit. Once He speaks, prophetic words, pictures, music or videos intersect my path. He’s got this all in control even if I don’t entirely see the whole picture.

The previous blog sets the stage for me in all of this. I acknowledge that fear tries to rise up to get me off-focus, to convince me that God can’t be trusted. I can get buried in the what-if’s along with other questions that center on doubt.

I would like to say that I simply released all control and in a quiet contemplative state I whisked through my day along a cloud of knowing.

But I didn’t. What did I do? After so many years of God showing His faithfulness to me, I still decided to make a list. I listed the pros and cons of what life would be like if we moved to various places to ‘settle’ in order to travel out to minister.

Over the course of an hour, I thought it seemed right to me. Notice what I said there – seemed right to me. I should know by now shouldn’t I?

What's next What nowMy lists show my humanness in full force. The lists went in so many different directions that I ended up doing what I usually do. I threw them away and just sat there, eyes closed, heart open. I quit. I won’t establish my path in my own wisdom.

In that moment of just being, God spoke and continued to speak over the whole day.

Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him… (Psalms 37:5-7 NKJV)

Commit my way to His way in complete trust.

He does what He promises He will do.

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24 NKJV)

Little Guy With PostitsThen I read this on FB and it seemed to go hand in hand with what I am seeking in this season. Perfection.

Kris Vallotton

One of the difficulties in becoming fully actualized occurs when people find themselves in a community that doesn’t have the capacity or vision to collaborate with their calling. For example, if you want to be an actress it might be good to move to Hollywood. If you are called to be a singer maybe Nashville is the place for you. New York is a great place to become a model, and the Silicone Valley might be the best place for a High Tech start up. But moving to the Silicone Valley to pursue a career in modeling is probably a bad idea. Conversely, it might be tough to start a tech company in Hollywood. Although these examples are in no way absolutes, they serve to paint a picture in our imagination of the collaboration that takes place when we discover our people and find our Promise Land. These examples also help to explain what happens when we try to fulfill our call in the wrong community. Forging Champions

I am seeking a spiritual community of people who live and move in the direction and power of the kingdom, seeking Jesus in radical love. To me that is being positioned to BE present and the dominos just go falling down – connections, opportunities, relationships, creativity, and expansion. It’s a good thing. Where is it? Still looking, still trusting, still hoping, and still focusing on God. No more lists. Just day by day walking in sync with Him one step at a time.

KeyholeThis move seems so crucial for us to settle in order to move out and travel to the nations. What seems so overwhelmingly BIG for me is just part of God’s process for me and in Him there is peace that surpasses understanding. In this peace I will walk, wait and trust.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. “For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. (Isaiah 55:11-12 NKJV)

I want to keep focused on this so more is coming soon.

Mantles??? Why? Christ in us – Reality!

Prophetic words often speak about mantles falling, mantles being imparted, and Elijah mantles ready to receive. I  read about mantles that were given to people in past seasons, now available for us. I also read about mantles that were never actually appropriated in a person’s life, being available to us right now to finish what they did not or could not These are just a few examples that I find in current prophetic words.

How can I stand in judgment when I probably prophesied about mantles too in years past while preaching? It was the prophetic way to follow and I followed wholeheartedly in it. Now I am seeing differently. The lens in my life is seeing through the finished work of the cross of Christ. It has radically shaped and transformed my life, even my prophetic life and prophecies that flow from deep within me.

So what about mantles? I recently went through the hundreds of messages that I had on my computer, preached in days gone by. I tossed many of them because of the mixture of Old Covenant and New Covenant reality that I found in their context. How did I preach that stuff?

Isn’t that a bit extreme – tossing it all away? Can’t I just save a few? Well, yes and no. Yes, I can save some, if they point to Christ and Christ alone, I can rewrite them with Christ in focus. No, they can’t be saved, if they continue to be preached from an Old Covenant reality. For me it is freedom to see with growing clarity and conviction that I am in the reality of a New Covenant given in Christ where Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the open door revealing to us mysteries and revelation of the Kingdom. As I said before, as for me, I love the Old Testament but I am not under an Old Covenant. I love the Old Testament when it points to the reality of Christ. From that point of revelation, I can learn, glean and receive wisdom and revelation from God.

Mantles – garments, glory, anointing; a large over garment such as Elijah’s mantle; to gather over and form a cover; represents spiritual covering; Mantle passed from Elijah to Elisha; significant of spiritual authority, covering and power

In the context of many prophetic words that I read, the mantle seems to be prophesied as a covering or something that we need to seek for and hunger for in order to gain something greater in our lives. The focus of the mantle in many prophetic words is ‘outsourced’ to something or someone other than the reality of Christ in us. What do I mean by that? The focus of the mantle in many prophecies that I read seems to imply that I should desire or seek a mantle to gain greater authority or power such as the anointing of Elijah or Elisha. Why? This focus is outsourced to something that is outside of us. So many prophesied from the reality of this verse. Altar calls were given based upon receiving a mantle or double portion.

Elijah went straight out and found Elisha son of Shaphat in a field where there were twelve pairs of yoked oxen at work plowing; Elisha was in charge of the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak over him. I Kings 19:19

I have been in conferences in seasons past where the focus was on the mantle/anointing of Elijah, Elisha, Deborah, Esther, and John the Baptist Forerunner Anointing, just to name a few. Again I want to say that all of this is inferior to the excellence of Christ Jesus in me in a New Covenant reality. I am in union with Christ. Why a mantle or a covering when I have Christ or rather, He has me.

“This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it’s out in the open. God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you; therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple. That is the substance of our Message. We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less. That’s what I’m working so hard at day after day, year after year, doing my best with the energy God so generously gives me.” Colossians 1:26-29 The Message

Why seek a mantle, something that is implied as needed and is in contradiction to the reality of Christ and Holy Spirit?

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. John 16:13-15 NKJV

Why did I and many others run to the altar to receive an impartation for a mantle or anointing? What did we think we were going to receive when all has been given to us in Christ? Prophecy seemed to extend the invitation for us to gain more, seek more, and hunger more rather than rest in the excellence of Christ in us. He has given us Holy Spirit. Why would we need a mantle or greater anointing?

There is great transformation needed in our prophetic language. How will this come about? Our language reflects the inner workings of our heart. Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. We will prophesy that which we see, comprehend and understand. If we see and hear a mixture of an Old Covenant reality preached to us or prophesied to us, we prophesy or speak from that position in our own lives.

When our vision lifts us up to see Christ in a New Covenant reality of grace, we prophesy from the position of being seated in heavenly places. What is that reality? Our total security in Christ, unconditional love and acceptance – without striving to receive more to complete us. We are complete in Christ and from that revelation, we move in grace and the faith of the Son of God moves us in action.

From that position, our perspective changes as we reflect on the eternal purposes of God in Christ to be manifest in the earth today through believers of Jesus. We mature and grow beyond the elementary teachings. This is a process that is taking place right now. We are in the tension of that process. That is why so many prophetic words are falling flat, without life. They are still prophesying breakthrough, revival, more anointing so that people get emotionally intoxicated but inevitably time goes by and we often see, little if any change. There is a lot to say on this. I am in process, learning day by day writing one step at a time.

We need no covering. We have Christ. We need no mantle. We have Christ. He is our all in all. When we gaze upon His beauty, we will be transformed by that which we gaze upon in our lives. My focus: I have said it many times. To see the preeminence of Christ restored as our only focus. From that, the river does indeed flow.

Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 2:16-18

Creative Expression – Faith is not a Strategy

I was watching an interview with Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz, about passion, creativity, and initiative. He talked about his journey with Starbucks, the good and the bad. He made a statement in this interview that I can’t shake. He said, “Faith is not a strategy.” I have been thinking about that statement for weeks.

Faith = belief

Strategy = design, blueprint, plans

My belief may or may not be enough to get me moving in strategy. I can sit in faith for a long time, and not move in strategy. Just sitting and waiting, being quite noble and stoic in my Christianity. Waiting on God………..that was drilled into me for years. You can wait and wait and wait and wait. I waited so long that in some areas of my life, I lost passion and purpose.

stockfresh_141486_flaming-heart_sizeXSI can stand forever in one place having faith but where does it take me? Faith alone is not strategy. There is movement in strategy. Movement in Holy Spirit strategy in our lives involves course corrections, revisions, dead ends, and upgrades. It is movement. The Kingdom is about movement. My journey in Christ is about risk.

OR, there can be a disconnect between my faith and my strategy. How? Well, like this. I can step out in my best-laid plans, which come to nothing because the source of these plans are not in the heart of Christ for me. I jump on every good idea and take risks but they are not faith-based risks. These risks form a path from expectations played out in my own head to just do something.

Faith is not a strategy. It is a foundation. It is a starting point. Yet, faith is activated in order to move forward. Who is the connection between the two? The Holy Spirit. He reveals Christ, the way, the truth and the life and I move out.

But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won’t draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. He will honor me; he will take from me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is also mine. That is why I’ve said, ‘He takes from me and delivers to you (John 16:13-15 Message)

My faith in Jesus Christ is real, substantial and forms my life. He is my life. But, what do I do with this live in me? DO is a great word. It is a wonderful word.  Grace and truth in Christ reveals to me my union in Him, not performance based in any way. He is. I am in Him. That is foundational and my faith is not shaken in that regard. I may get discouraged and down but He is the way, the truth and the life to me.

For years, waiting became a mantra to me. Wait, wait and wait. Wait more and you will rise up with wings as eagles. There is tension in this type of endless waiting. It breeds discontent and a decrease of passion and purpose. It sounded spiritual but it is not.

For me, each day is an adventure in Christ. My faith is not some magical conveyor belt that moves me into purpose. My faith in Christ aligns me and positions me in heavenly places in Him. From that vantage point, I live and move and have my being in Him.

My strategy now is quite simple and flows from peace and rest in Christ: I worship, I pray, I speak in tongues, I prophesy to myself, I read the Word, and I live from Him filling my heart. I listen to Holy Spirit speak to me and reveal Christ to me. I do what I see the Father doing and move where I see the Father moving. That is not complicated. It is the unforced rhythms of grace.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me––watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill–fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly (Matthew 11:28-30 Message)

What if there is no  strategy during those times of prayer and worship? Well, then I BE and LIVE. But, I don’t wait and stand still. I hope you are getting that picture and I am not sounding completely nebulous and void. Waiting is not passive. Waiting is not standing and looking for that perfect moment to arrive where trumpets sound and angels sing. Waiting is movement, believing with all my heart in Christ Jesus, knowing that He knows where I am at all times and can find me anytime. He sees me at all times. Waiting is active movement on a foundation of sure belief in Christ. Kind of contradictory? No, not at all. Waiting is active movement. Think about it.

Any comments stirring in your heart? I ask this a lot but don’t get a lot of comments so I WAIT. Hahaha! I am quite patient to know that many people OUT THERE struggle with life, up and down and all around. I am a messenger of good tidings to tell you God loves you. So what are you thinking today about faith and your strategy in Christ? Elevate, rise up and see that He has incredible things for your life.
