There’s No There………..There

3294247795_7a63d3d340_zHave you heard the expression – “There’s no there…there”? It captures an image in my mind of someone continually walking, but never arriving at his or her destination.

I see so many people waiting for something or someone to take them out of their current reality to whisk them away to their ‘THERE’. That place where all is settled nicely into place. That next breakthrough. That next prophetic word. That next something or other.

You know that word in Isaiah that says that those who wait upon the Lord will rise up with wings as eagles. Well, I know many who are still waiting and waiting and waiting. I used to be one of them, feeling somewhat self-righteous and smug in my spirituality. No more. It’s time to risk it all to follow the Lord – possibility, faith and obedience being the key words.

Christianity is about life in Christ. He is my life now. So for me there is no ‘there’ to move into to find Him for He is right here within me. That reality has changed how I approach life on a daily basis. How I can walk in adventure and journey, believing that He is all I need now. Jesus is capable of leading me where He wants me to go to do what He wants me to do.

Sound Waves From MouthWhen I prophesy into someone’s life or even write prophetically, I prophesy from the revelation of the finished work of Christ on the cross. I prophesy from a position of breakthrough, of being seated in heavenly places, of being a child of God NOW not somewhere out THERE.

That is who I am and that is who you are in Christ, as a Christian. Our identity is secure in Him, fully settled in His sacrifice. I no longer strive to achieve anything more to add to his finished work but live in rest, His live flowing in and through mine.

Prophecy that causes anyone to strive or to enter into performance to produce anything is not of God. Yet, there are so many words being given that project us into our future, while negating the reality of our now.

Now we are seated in heavenly places.

Now I am complete in Christ.

Now I am loved.

Now I am accepted.

Now all the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ.

Now every spiritual blessing is mine in Christ.

That’s where I begin to write and prophesy. Now is the day of your salvation. What will we do within it?

To constantly tell people breakthrough is coming, revival is coming, and healing is coming negates the reality of what is here for us in Christ. Breakthrough is mine. Revival is mine. Healing is mine. Believe it. That forms the foundation of a prophetic life. The manifestation of healing or breakthrough may not seem apparent right now but they are complete, nonetheless. When we enter into the rest of this reality, we live from a position of our fulfilled life in Christ, not always searching for something more.

I prophesy that Jesus Himself has secured a life of abundance and blessing in Him. In Him is key to our understanding. I don’t strive to get more. I allow Him to live His life through me, which is a promised life of righteousness, peace and joy. It is a life that I will encounter suffering and persecution but in that I am positioned in His blessing and in His abundant life.

There are times of increased warfare in our lives. But, we don’t withdraw from life, waiting for it to pass. We stand, with an intensity to fight off the enemy through declaration of identity, not through shouting and yelling or trying to press harder and harder and harder. Everything is ours in Christ so we walk in that truth– through the ups and downs of life, through all its trials and sufferings.

This reality has changing everything about my prophetic journey. I don’t strive but find peace in Christ to live my life in the Spirit. Rest produces peace and clarity of vision. Rest increases my trust to believe in the promises of God now and to walk in their reality, one step at a time, moving forward in faith.

CrossI prophesy life to each of you reading this, the life of Christ flowing in and through you for victory over any and every circumstance that you encounter. Our relationship with Jesus, with the Father, with Holy Spirit assures us that He will always be with us, in the midst of our life struggles.

For those who struggle with answers nowhere in sight, start by believing that He is a good Father who loves you and only wants what is best for you NOW. When darkness hits and tries to drag you down, remember that He is with you, never leaving or forsaking you NOW. No matter what storm what difficulty, don’t retreat but run to Him and He will see you through…no over or under but through and you will be stronger through it all.

There’s no there…there. He’s right here with everything you need for life.

More in a few days……………..

Truth Staggers Down The Street

Truth is lost in the midst of cultural noise and political correctness. Words blast their way into the atmosphere on a daily basis. They continually try to change our minds and destroy our thought processes from seeking what is real, what is true. Words are a vehicle by which truth is moved along so if you distort words, trying to change their meaning from what is originally intended, it is easier to control people through deception, dilution and distortion.

Words Words WordsThis is not a new thing. If fact it is an old thing and I only need look at a verse in the OT to speak truth into this very problem.

Justice is beaten back, Righteousness is banished to the sidelines, Truth staggers down the street, Honesty is nowhere to be found. (Isaiah 59:14 Message)

Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; For truth is fallen in the street, And equity cannot enter. (Isaiah 59:14 NKJVS)

There is an attack on truth through the use of words that seem to be ever changing, evolving to bolster man’s political agenda or partisan way of life. Look around if you can and find truth in the midst of chaos. It is lost amidst word mixtures and word distortions.

The only way to navigate the treacherous waters ahead is through the only truth that exists to be found. Christ Jesus.

Jesus said to him, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6 NKJV)

Jesus said, “I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me. (John 14:6 Message)

Truth in Christ is true in any matter, under all circumstances in perfect reality. If one does not know Christ, one cannot comprehend truth. Truth in Christ in me is a life renewed with an excellent mind, able to perceive truth in the midst of deception. I am in union with Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit and in my life there is a perfect expression of Truth as I live, move and have my being in Him.

Many see Jesus as a lunatic for saying this pretentious statement in John 14:6. Listen to what C.S. Lewis says below.

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” C.S. Lewis – Mere Christianity.

Truth Will Set You FreeA battle rages for truth. People desperately desire truth. Truth is in Christ. Truth is Christ Jesus. Truth is found in Christ and the outflow of His teachings, His person, and His oneness in the Father. That forms the simplicity of my life, the way this blog will flow and the prophetic nature of speaking forth hope into a chaotic future that exists in the world apart from Christ.

Prophetically speaking I would say that confusion rules the atmosphere in this present day. Yet that is not a reality for those hidden in Christ Jesus. We are able to see and to hear beyond what is being shown us and far beyond what is being said. We hear truth beyond words that seem to bolster political agendas or foster partisan belief. There is a sound behind the sound when one is discerning to truly hear. God will reveal His heart to us and through us in Christ.

Look no further than the simplicity that is found in Christ for the coming days will toss us back and forth on the winds of change if we are not anchored in the truth of the divine words of Scripture. Make no mistake, we desire to see hope restored and peace reign in our midst but this is an impossibility apart from Christ ruling and reigning in the power of His kingdom that dwells first in the heart of His people and flows out in its necessary power…..now and in the days ahead.

Hope is restored. Peace is maintained. Lives are lived contrary to the prevailing atmosphere of humanistic logic and wisdom. How can one find this? How can one live in direct opposition to fear, distress, and hopelessness? In Christ. Rise up and live above in heavenly places, where we are seated in Christ Jesus.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4 NKJVS)

This is a simple way to start the New Year prophetically speaking. We must disregard the extraneous things pulling on our lives on a daily basis.  They only seek to take us into a reality bound by fear and distress. There is a better way, a more excellent way and those who seek Him will find Him. The promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus. He never leaves us or forsakes us.

Start today. Spend time alone with the Lord. Learn to hear His voice and respond to His overtures of love to you. In this time set apart we will develop a hearing ear and discerning eyes to follow Him in the midst of the coming storms. We will walk in peace and hope and love despite anything that tries to come against us, uproot us or destroy us.

O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 13For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalms 139:1-3, 7, 13-14, 23-24 NKJVS)

Be Where You Are Supposed To Be

God always confirms His word to me in many wonderful and unique ways. (Even when He appears to be silent, there is a something being said in that, such as trust, breathe, and rest.)  After I wrote the past few blogs, Look For The Signs  and our Holy Spirit Adventure, I saw this on Facebook. Look for God moving in your situation and then receive the words that shine a light on your path, moving you forward with each step. Be where you are supposed to be and in that place, there is a deep sense of peace and rest.Eye

Chuck Pierce – Glory of Zion

Be where I assign you, when I assign you. There are new connections coming unto your path this week.

You will begin to experience life in a way that you’ve not known in the past. So be where you are to be, when you are to be there, and watch Me work in your behalf.

Put procrastination under your feet. Put laziness under your feet, and be where I tell you to be. Put shame under one foot and put disgust and lagging behind under the other foot.

Be where I tell you to be. It’s at that place you will begin to see.

Holy Spirit Adventure – Look for the signs!

IMG_6588Sometimes I settle when God is saying “Hold on. Wait. Patience. Don’t take the first thing that comes your way.”

I may settle out of fear when nothing is coming my way that I can see.

I settle into lack, thinking that I don’t deserve anything better so I should take what is right before me. This is as good as it gets.

For any number of reasons, I settle for something less than what God has for me. What excuses do you use to hide fear, or lack, or anxiety? We all have them, in abundance.

We looked at over 10 houses to rent in Texas, not counting all the neighborhoods we drove around looking for rental signs. I discovered that there was a fight going on inside of me. The internal conversation went something like this.

“You know, Debra, the rental market is moving soooooo fast that unless you choose this one the next one won’t be quite as nice and then you will be STUCK without one. Or worse, homeless……..do you like that word?”

Or it can sound something like this.

“Debra, stop being so picky. Compromise a bit. You expect way too much.”

That’s just two examples of the never-ending story that stirred in my head.

7711866066_9ffdaf3078_zTruth – God very often withholds a bit to see if I am trusting Him to lead and guide me, despite what I see. Yes, the rental market is moving fast in Dallas. (All those darn Californians moving out this way. Haha!) And, yes, there is a chance that if I don’t pick what is GOOD right before my eyes, what will come next is NOT SO GOOD and then I am STUCK.

What I am still learning, after years of doing this, is that God always has something beyond good. He always gives me perfect and excellent, for ME. Of course, it may not look like what I initially think. It may not fit my plan. But, when it’s God, there is peace, there is joy and all the pieces seem to fall into place.

Here’s how we rented our home, our beautiful, excellent, perfect home for the next year. I am writing this to each of you to encourage you to journey in and with Holy Spirit. Life is too short to dwell on anything that has no eternal significance.

Day 4 of the search – long long days, one crabby woman, one tired husband and a French bulldog that did not want to be in a car anymore.

Ten houses or more later and each one seemed just not right. Not big enough. Way too big. No back yard for Chlo-girl, our Frenchie. No fence. Wrong neighborhood. Right neighborhood but boring. Too much traffic. Each one seemed lacking.

Was it really? Lacking? Not right? I should say it another way. Each house would be the perfect home – for somebody. But….not for us. I wanted ME when I looked at the home, when I walked through it. I wanted to know that this was THE one. That is how I live my life. It proves to be interesting. It always shows God’s faithfulness to me in the details.

One realtor looked at me, after seeing just one house he showed us, and said. “You know, you have to compromise.”

(Translated to my ears: I want to make this deal. Just pick this one.)

I just looked at him and said nothing. He had no idea about my life over the past few years. This time there would be no compromise. Trusting and waiting on God was the theme of the trip. God led us here. He guided us through every detail. He does not stop halfway through.

So one day, one long day, we drove to the last house on our list, the house that had been forgotten on a sheet of yellow lined paper, hidden way on the bottom of a list of many houses. There it was…..we knew…………we simply knew.

While waiting for the realtor to show us the inside, we stopped at a park to walk Chloe. We started to talk to a couple, a God divine connection for that moment. They spoke with heart about their Christian walk, their fears at this time in their life and the fact that meeting us was ordained by Holy Spirit for that day. She kept saying, “I know God wanted us to meet today.”

God whispers, “Debra, I have your back. Do you catch the signs? Always look for the signs.”

After getting their contact information, we went to see the house which was near the park. Bam…….all fell into place AND the great thing – the owners (bless them Lord over and over) completely redid the house inside – new floors, kitchen, all appliances, washer dryer AND gardening service. I saw the house and I saw ME, creative, alive and ready for a new adventure.

Thank you God for preparing our way in a continuing Holy Spirit journey….so excited about what is next. More to come.

Transition Into 2016 – Holy Spirit Journey To Texas

12314019_1072377059469111_6846878766577459281_nLots of prophetic thoughts rise up in me as I journey into 2016. There will be plenty of blog posts focused on that after the holidays.

But right now, it’s all about settling into Texas. Let me take you on our Holy Spirit journey in how we are walking in sync with the Lord, each and every day during this move. It will be great transitional writing for me leading into the next series of blog posts after the holidays.

Lots of ups and downs in this move,   leading me to trust and obey God with each step. Not seeing the whole picture leaves me frazzled at times but I keep going (along with Marvin).Frustration can set in at the little things – looking at 10 houses and never feeling like this was the ‘one’ for us. Endless hours of driving between El Paso and San Antonio birthed a new level of patience in me.

I love Holy Spirit adventure, journeying into the heart of God, trusting Him to lead the way into a Christianity that is dynamic and alive, and yes, a bit scary at times.

Downsizing, leaving things behind – either I am going to walk by faith or live in fear. What kind of life is that? Travel and change is my norm. At least, that is what I keep professing isn’t it?

Truth – Left to myself, I probably would not have moved back to Texas. I truly love California. But, when God said to go, we obeyed. Yet, there is more to the initial act of obedience.

God spoke and told me to “Bless Texas.” And so that is what I have been doing – as I am walking country roads in Beaumont close to my mother-in-laws home, driving up to Dallas through, etc. I bless Texas.

And……when we do that…….God places a love in our hearts for that very place into which He calls us for a season – to see its beauty, to encounter its people, and to look with creative eyes to see your purpose here for such a time as this.

Lord, I pray that Texas is our small open door, opening wide, into the nations…only You can do this Lord, in your way, in your divine timing.
