Prophets – In Deep Waters

Ocean WaveHere I am in deep waters, far away from any sign of land. Waves surge up and down, settling me briefly into watery valleys that hinder my vision. I hope to see some glimpse of land, some reference point that would lead me up and away from the deep waters into the shallows of what is familiar and comfortable. Yet, each time I rise up, the view is the same – more waves and a vast expanse of sky that causes me to feel a spiritual vertigo. If I look too long without anything to focus on, I feel a bit dizzy in this new place.

How did I get here? Well, I cried out a simple prayer, “More Lord.” When that prayer reached a crescendo, rising into the ears of God, He lifted me up and brought me out into the deep to call me unto Himself.

Despite my disdain for religion and my dislike for the mundane, at least the shallow waters lent themselves to some sort of fellowship and preaching. Out here there’s nothing. No distractions. It’s just the sound of the waves as the wind swirls around me.

To stay afloat, I can tread water but that gets tiring over time. How long will that keep me afloat anyway?

Nothing to lean on. Nowhere to go. It’s just me and the wind and the waves. What purpose does this serve? How does this fit into God’s mighty plan for my life?

I knew it would come to this. After all, when I cried out “More Lord” what did I expect? To be drawn up in the midst of churchianity or to be drawn out into the deep?

For years, a discontent grew within my whole being whenever I entertained the thought of church – business as usual, mundane boring programs, performance driven worship teams or leadership that micromanaged everything down to the last minute. This discontent almost killed me. It was at this point that God whispered into my being. “If you want to go deeper, you have to be drawn into the deep waters.”

Water flowingWhen it first happens, loneliness sets in along with a penchant to stay alive by any means possible. You know what I’m talking about if you are following along with this by the Spirit. Thinking that this won’t last too long or that God will let me go back to the safety of the shoreline. You get that right?

But as the waves come and go, I realize that it’s impossible to have both – sanctimonious religion and God ordained, Spirit led, Jesus loving relationship. It’s impossible for desire and passion to grow in environments self-serving to man’s agenda without any regard to precious Holy Spirit.

When drawn into the deep by the hand of God, there is only one thing to do. Release, let go and allow Him to pull you down into His depths. There is no returning to normalcy after that. When I release myself to the hand of God and He pulls me under, I have only one recourse of action left in my life.

Release everything to Him. Trust Him.

What’s the alternative? Catching a wave back into shore, splashing around in the shallows with those who want nothing more from God than the latest conference or next trendy worship CD. There are no options left for me.

I release myself into the depths of my Lord.

Over time, I discover a new paradigm takes over. What was focused years ago on external Christianity in the realm of performance, agenda and works is now focused on being in union with Christ, so that my life flows in Christ………..as He is, so am I in the world. This reality infuses my life with His life. It is Christ in me. Christ in me.

It is in the depths, the deep waters, that I find truth, the person of Christ in the depths of His love, His grace and His mercy flowing into my life.

God calls prophets into the deep waters for seasons of increased revelation, growth and maturity. It is a pulling aside, going deeper, intimate times with God apart from the routine and ritual that religious Christianity brings.

Prophets in deep waters love God and love His people. The deep is necessary to strengthen the message that will resonate through every fiber of our being. It is a call to love God wholeheartedly with our whole mind, body and soul, forsaking anything the world offers that tries to take the place of God. Our message is fine-tuned here, uncompromised, not conforming to standard or ritual.

What is the message you may ask? Is it some mysterious revelation that sets us apart? Is it some new teaching that will draw others to us, eyes wide open, gazing in admiration at us and our anointing?

It’s quite simple. It is the centrality of Christ; Jesus being all in all with every prophetic utterance issuing forth a revelation of the preeminence and glory, in the person of Christ.

In the deep, He forms the hearts before He fashions the words coming from our lives. Each word has its beginning and ending in the person of Jesus Christ. Our lives are changed. He is our all in all.

The deep brings a reality that forms in us and lives through us in Christ. We may be called back into the shallows and back onto land but the revelation imparted here will be the foundation of our lives. Radical prophets submitted to God, loving people and challenging the very nature of the church, as we know it.

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor? Or who has first given to Him and it shall be repaid to him? For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:33-36

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. Colossians 1:15-18

Preach Christ – Keeping It Simple In Poland

Poland-and-neighbours-map_fb-sizeHere we are in Poland – Gdansk, Elblag area.

Our focus: Preach Christ.

For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord. 2 Corinthians 4:5

We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. Colossians 1:28

Rivers of Eden Ministry is consumed with Jesus Christ, preaching, teaching and prophesying from the depths of who He is in our lives. Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. We speak Jesus. We bring forth the creative expression of Christ within and challenge people to BE the creative expression of Jesus Christ.

When God expresses Himself, it is Christ. We can rightly say that God spoke Himself into human life in the person of the Lord Jesus. For this reason, John called Christ the logos, the Living Word of God. God’s Word is a person. The one true God has revealed Himself  completely and finally in Jesus…..In like manner, the Holy Spirit, the great Revelator, also reveals Christ. And Christ is the only thing that the Spirit reveals. He has no other revelation. The Spirit introduces Jesus, usually in some new way.  Jesus Manifesto: Frank Viola

We preach the reality of the person of Christ. This is our journey right now. This is how it should be. From this reality will flow healing, deliverance, salvation and creative impartation.

The characteristic of Christianity lies in the fact  that its source, depth, and riches are involved with the knowledge of God’s Son. It matters not how much we know of methods of doctrines or power. What really matters is the knowledge of the Son of God. Watchman Nee

During these next few weeks, I will be posting in this journey keeping it simple in Poland. In the deep waters, calling people to come to Jesus.

Short and Sweet Today – Life in Christ, The Greatest Reality

Peace in ChristThe problem of chaos and complexity in our daily lives, in this nation, in the world can be deconstructed down to one overarching reality – the simplicity of Christ. As we pursue answers to problems, chase new movements, try to analyze trends, our mind can be bogged down in the mire of confusion.

Let’s face it…what we are seeing around us right now is confusion and chaos on a massive scale. The more we try to define it or capture it and place it somewhere on a list of what we understand, we soon realize that there is no understanding to it all.

That is……apart from Christ in whom all is held together. There is a simplicity in Christ that opens a door to creations’s reality. Meditate, think on Jesus and what flows from that is glorious reality. The power of the blood. The finished work of the cross. And….so much more.

To bear down into the simplicity of Christ so that His life is lived in and through us opens a wide door of life in the kingdom where the answers are not as important as the simplicity of knowing Him and the power of resurrection life lived through us, quickened by the Spirit right NOW.

Some thoughts to encourage today. I can see that many are mired and brought down into the reality of an abiding confusion trying to steal peace, joy, and the action of faith movement. Jesus is the way…………His life in us is the way into living in the world but not of the world. We live actively, passionately dreaming but never in denial of the condition of what is around us at all times. But……this chaos is not IN us. I am in Christ, hidden in God in Christ.

Dream again and dream big, not in the reality of the limited nature of the world around us. Dream again with God in Christ in a limitless life that resides in each of us, the power of the Kingdom and the power of His resurrection, quickened to us in the Spirit to live, to dream and to move in faith into areas that open up to us in Christ. Jesus is the way. Think on that today.

Christ All In All Flowing through the Prophetic

Though she be littleAgain, I want to reiterate that my purpose in writing this is quite simple. The Message says it so beautifully.

Colossians 1:15-20
We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels––everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment. And when it comes to the church, he organizes and holds it together, like a head does a body.

He was supreme in the beginning and––leading the resurrection parade––he is supreme in the end. From beginning to end he’s there, towering far above everything, everyone. So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe––people and things, animals and atoms––get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the Cross

To this end, I labor in writing this blog – so that Christ alone is glorified. It is quite evident to me that a birthing is taking place in my life. Without writing this, I could stay pregnant forever in my silence. That is something I simply will not and cannot do. So, I write and process as best as I can.

The simplicity of Christ and the preeminence of Christ are essential now and in the days ahead. Many can and do talk about God with nebulous words and phrases. Yet, God made it all real in Christ and joins us to Him in our salvation. It is to that end that we prophesy – to glorify the Son. So, let’s begin to set our sights on God’s eternal purpose in Christ and let prophecy flow from that reality.

On this journey writing about prophetic transformation, let’s talk about the word ‘revival’. This quote below pretty much sums it all up for me. All I can add to it is simply ‘Selah’.

What we have called revival, the New Testament calls Christianity. Jonathan Welton

How many times must I continue to hear that God is moving, God is shaking, and revival is stirring in specific locations and locales? Over the years I have frequently heard that THE hot-spot for revival will be Texas, California (south to north and south again), New York’s tidal wave tsunami flowing over the States, Florida, Alabama, Colorado, etc, etc. etc.

Why is it necessary to quantify the word ‘revival’ to add to its credibility? We feel we must name ‘names’ and speak of how many are flocking to these places, conveniently placing pictures on Facebook or Instagram of people slain in the spirit lying at altars.

Then, we additionally mention more iconic names that spark revival fever. In addition, we relay information about upcoming conference venues seeking to maintain this move of God. We just need to quantify a spiritual reality. Does anyone else think this is immature on our parts? It seems like a group of children showing off their new toys.

But we don’t stop there. We may even further quantify our statements by speaking in superlative tones, which exalt the manifestations of gold dust, angelic appearances, fire or wind. We again then quantify the number of healings and salvation. This leads me to believe that we think more is better, grander, highly favored. The masses then respond with awe and reverence at the event, the people, and the conference.

I can’t be silent. I want to write about a need for prophetic transformation – transformed in His glory, gazing upon the face of Christ and then speaking forth. In wisdom, I believe subtlety is better and displays wisdom in our Christianity. Why do we feel we need to always prove something when we have SOMEONE? Where two of three are gathered, He is in the midst and there is power, authority and even this thing call revival. I believe ‘revival’ has been almost deified in and of itself, taking the focus off of Christ. Not always, of course, but I am determined that we focus on Christ and Christ alone so that we may encounter the days ahead with authenticity, honor, grace and glory.

Let’s change our foundational belief. Revival is not ‘out there’. Revival is normal Christianity flowing through my life in the power of the Spirit. Christ is in me. What more do I need? I live, move and have my being in Him.

Then, let’s get rid of any quantitative, superlative language that seeks to hype up the emotions and lead people to believe something is the end all, be all – something they need and can’t live without. So in essence, we do not need revival outsourced and tied to our emotions to respond to some iconic ministry or conference. We simply need to believe what the quote says above.

Revival is New Testament Christianity, Christ in me, and my union with Christ – that is a consistent flowing of life from my belly in the power of the Spirit. All of us. Selah.

Though she be littleThere is so much more flowing from me regarding prophetic transformation. I am a little voice, as I heard someone so aptly say on Facebook the other day. Yet I remember what the jockey said in the movie Seabiscuit, one of my favorite movies. It’s a quote from Shakespeare.
