A Clear Sound – Do You Hear Yourself Talk?

Sound Waves From MouthWhen I speak, sound moves out with the intent of coming into contact with some thing. Words travel with intent, or at least they should. Ears pick up the vibration as my words move out from within me. They’re looking for a place to land whether that is the human spirit or the deep areas of the heart. I want to speak with intent and purpose, bringing life and light to anyone within the sound of my voice. Whether that be the written word sent out via the Internet or the spoken word as I prophesy/preach/teach, words hold substance. But, the question that always confronts us is quite simple.

Is anyone listening? As the last blog post points out, sometimes our sound can’t be heard at the place where we find ourselves, whether that is a physical location or a spiritual place of transition.

These blog posts are for those waiting to be heard. This is not for those making a way for themselves, pushing out with repetitive prophecies that seem to be a remix of everything that has already been said, over and over and over. I am not talking to those wanting to hit center stage to make a name for themselves. I am not advocating group speak that often happens when we immerse ourselves in a network or denomination of like-minded people who all use the same tribal language.

I am talking to those who hold a deep burning passion within to speak words of life, life and truth in Christ Jesus. You know who you are. You walk in humility and grace. Learning much along the way, you’ve made lots of mistakes and even find yourselves greatly disturbed by what you see and hear around you in Christian arenas. Rather than speak out at the drop of a hat, you choose to remain silent, restrained by the hand of God. There is a deep knowing in you that your words, when spoken, have no place to land. So you wait and wait, sometimes in frustration and sometimes in submission.

There is a time to speak and a time to be silent. We are on a learning curve in our training. I believe there are many ready to be released to speak out what has been entrusted to them while in the hidden places in these past years.

We shall be a people who are intentional. The words that we speak will be words of change – changing atmospheres, changing hearts. Words will go out in power and not return void, doing the work that they are created to do. Intentional words spoken in God’s timing to a people ready to hear.

Words Words WordsBut right now? Are people listening? No, not really. At least that is my take on things. Too much noise. Too much distraction. People always going to the next thing, and the next thing and the next thing, not willing to meditate and think a bit. Not willing to be silent and to wait on God to get His take on things. Many words coming forth in anger, presumption, fear and judgment. Words need a place to land in order to impact an individual, group of people, a city a nation………….

Right now, so many words sounding forth floating about, spiritually speaking. Words dispersing in the spiritual atmosphere, not carrying any great weight of glory. They are light, airy, without much substance.

Sometimes I read or listen to a message and the word burns deep within me, so strong, so powerful that I want to burst inside, waiting to just release it. But…there is this sense that something is lacking. Where is it? There’s nothing lacking in Christ so the issue must be me. What is this? What do I need?

Deep clarity and understanding of a person – Christ in me. Revelation of the person, the Living Word, within me before I actually speak. Alive in me, He speaks to me before He speaks through me. There is no short cut here…………..intimacy in Christ, with Christ.

I hold words that are in process right now, growing in understanding, wisdom, grace. So many words out there. Many find themselves silent as I said above in order to  purify our language to form substance, to impart His person and His glory.

If they are released prematurely, they will disperse in mid-air never hitting the mark. Words of spirit and truth, life and light – They need a place to land. In the wrong timing, they may hit a person’s heart only to languish on the surface because the person is not prepared. They fall off because the ground is not ready. We are being prepared but so are the people/cities/nations to which we are being sent.

Words move out. They land flat. People don’t receive them, can’t receive them, don’t understand them, or any other number of reasons. What’s the problem? Is it that people are rebellious? Maybe. Are they ignorant of what I am saying? Perhaps. Are they tuning me out due to distraction? Yes, many times they are. There can be many reasons why we’re not heard. I just want to simplify it all right now. Looking at the Lord, keeping my eyes on Him and off of people, I realize something.

I believe that the Lord is restraining many of us from speaking. Why? To impart deep within us simplicity of language that focuses on Jesus Christ.

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. (1 Corinthians 2:1-2 NKJV)

There has to come a deep knowing before life-giving words come forth in power and anointing. To know Christ and to speak Christ.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63 NKJV)

More to come…………………

Can Your Unique Sound Be Released Right Where You Are?

I’m speaking – no one seems to be listening. It’s as if the sound is going into a void that diffuses it, sending it into oblivion, lost forever in nothingness.

Sound Waves From Mouth

As this happens over and over again, I begin to sense that my words aren’t hitting the mark. I watch this happening right as I am speaking. Here it comes, a sense of disconnect. That sense of no one really hooking into what you are saying –deep detachment from the conversation. Words seem to vaporize in the atmosphere.

What’s worse than feeling like you’re not being heard? What’s the outcome here? I can disconnect from everything with the attitude of ‘Why bother?” That leaves me a passive observer, no longer engaging with the atmosphere or environment I am in. I shut down. I’m quiet. There’s nothing coming out even though the well deep inside is full and flowing with ideas and creativity. Frustration builds and builds inside of me.

In contrast to this, I determine that nothing will stop me from being heard. I speak. And I speak. And I speak some more. My intent is to be heard, no matter what. Ever been around people like that? I have and I believe I was someone like that in past seasons. In this type of situation, it seems that everyone sees your insecurity but you. It’s best to quit while you’re ahead when you see people disengaged from what you’re saying and making every excuse to get away from you.

What’s the problem here? Let me give you something to think about. It may be best to read the blog that came before this one to get a feel for where I am going in this series of blog posts. I want to say again that this particular post is a journey in this topic. I throw out the thoughts and you run with them in your own creative way in Christ. That is essentially the heart of the true prophetic – to stir life inside of you so that you seek the Lord for yourself, hearing His voice.

The sound I carry within me, the voice deep inside, cannot be released in the spiritual atmosphere in which I find myself. Therefore, I become frustrated when it appears that I am ignored passed over and somewhat out of sync with everything and everyone around me. Be careful. That can lead to anger. How can they hear when their spiritual ears are closed to your sound? Remember Jesus?

You can relate this to a physical environment you find yourself in, but right now I am talking about my God ordained sound, my voice which flows out of the depths of my being, bringing forth the message that God has placed inside of me within the spiritual atmosphere. My bent. My being.

Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 AMP

God raises up His children in the ‘bent’ into which He fashions them. Each of us has this bent, the way He makes us, forms us in His image, unique, creative and gifted. He wants us to be who we are in Christ. Within that bent, we each have a unique verbal expression. That’s a bit hard to see in the world today where words are devalued all around us. We repeat what others say. We mimic what others say. But how much do we actually spend time with the One who created us to find out our inner voice that expresses His life through us.

A radical sound is not necessarily the choice of words that we use. It is the sound that emanates deep from within our being, the flows like a river from our inner substance, formed in Christ.

I actually heard Holy Spirit whisper this to me.

“Your sound can’t be released here.”

That set me on a journey that will define these blog posts. I realize that the place where I now find myself in a spiritual climate of believers is not the place where I can release my sound until I get a clear directive from Holy Spirit. That saves me a lot of frustration. The enemy can get into this frustration by making me feel that I am being rejected. For me, when I heard the Lord say this,  I relaxed. I quieted inside. Why fight it?

This is not compromise on my part. It is submission to Holy Spirit. And it comes with peace. Deep peace. We are not entitled to speak in every situation, to have the right answer, to prove that we are cutting edge with a current word of prophecy or to rely on an outflow of words to keep people focused on us.

Perhaps I am on a path here which started in me a long, long time ago. It was at that time when I asked the Lord to anoint me with words of power, purpose, truth, life and healing. He asked me “Do you want to be a voice of truth in a world of chaos?’

I said, “Yes.”

This seems to my training process here. It starts with learning  when to be silent, not so much when to speak. I know that I know there are prophetic people reading this that can say a hearty “Amen” in agreement with this. For others starting out on how to flow in Holy Spirit, lots of wisdom will flow in life lessons in the days ahead in order to help you grow and mature in prophetic wisdom and grace. More definitely coming on this topic.

A Young Man with an Ear to Hear – Part 5/5 – Sound Source

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:15-17 HCS)

Jesus Christ holds it all together. From the smallest particle of energy to the majestic expanse of the universe, Christ holds it all together. He is the source through which all life flows. In the beginning was the Word, Jesus Christ, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He is the source of all life.

The source of all sound, that which is good, right, noble, creative, uplifting, and energizing is Christ and is in Christ. Yet, evil is all around us. In evil there is a constricted, discordant sound that penetrates the universe – a sound of darkness. This universal sound of evil exists, trying to exert dominion but Christ has indeed triumphed over all evil.

Goodness and love itself in Christ has not eradicated the sound of evil. It is still here, at least for now. The young man had a choice in what he wanted to hear. The reality of his life made him run in desperation to anything that would ease or totally annihilate the universal sound of hopelessness – “It is what it is.” He tried Christianity, being exposed to it as a young child but it did nothing for Him. To him, Christianity was nothing more than a veneer of God-speak lacquered over a non-essential form called religion. “Why bother?” he thought.

It’s true you know. Religion tries to cover itself with a facade of relevance but that only masks what it actually is – a sound source of laws and rules, devoid of life. But, Jesus is not deterred or dismayed by anything that seemingly stands in the way of reaching a person.

All along there was another sound building in the young man. He often thought, “There’s got to be more than this.” These words flowed through his DNA, a small glimmer of light and hope amidst the intruding darkness. Reality held him captive to the universal sound but hope somehow managed to find a way into the young man’s heart.

Every young man has an inner resolve to live life to its fullest. Yet, we all know that this is not often how it is. Life, with its inevitable chaos, often made the young man feel as if he was not actually in charge of his destiny. He felt that somehow a source outside himself was pulling him in different directions. He often felt off-centered.

He felt somewhat at a standstill in life. Caught between the tension of bad and worse, he had to find a way out or submit to the fact that this is what it is and life will never get any better than what he saw all around him.

Christ seeks a relationship with young men everywhere. The mundane form of Christianity that we often see today does not limit Jesus in reaching a person. What do I mean by that? Christianity at large packages Jesus Christ in many predictable ways: go to church, hear a sermon, accept salvation, join a Bible study, listen to uplifting Christian music, blah, blah, blah – these are robotic contrived life patterns that the young man simply refused to submit to.

So what’s a God to do with this? Well it is not that hard. God shows up in unique and diverse places to meet us right where we are. The Living Word, Jesus Christ, sounds forth in love to draw all men to Him.

 To a prophet:

“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations–– that’s what I had in mind for you.” But I said, “Hold it, Master God! Look at me. I don’t know anything. I’m only a boy!” God told me, “Don’t say, ‘I’m only a boy.’ I’ll tell you where to go and you’ll go there. I’ll tell you what to say and you’ll say it. Don’t be afraid of a soul. I’ll be right there, looking after you.” God ‘s Decree  (Jeremiah 1:5-8 Message)

 In a palace:

God gave these four young men knowledge and skill in both books and life. In addition, Daniel was gifted in understanding all sorts of visions and dreams (Daniel 1:17 Message)

In the middle of the night:

God called again, “Samuel!” ––the third time! Yet again Samuel got up and went to Eli, “Yes? I heard you call me. Here I am.” That’s when it dawned on Eli that God was calling the boy (1 Samuel 3:8 Message)

 On a dusty road:

He set off. When he got to the outskirts of Damascus, he was suddenly dazed by a blinding flash of light. As he fell to the ground, he heard a voice: “Saul, Saul, why are you out to get me?” He said, “Who are you, Master?” “I am Jesus, the One you’re hunting down. 6 I want you to get up and enter the city. In the city you’ll be told what to do next (Acts 9:3-6 Message)

 By a fishing boat:

When they pulled in that catch of fish, awe overwhelmed Simon and everyone with him. It was the same with James and John, Zebedee’s sons, coworkers with Simon. Jesus said to Simon, “There is nothing to fear. From now on you’ll be fishing for men and women.” They pulled their boats up on the beach, left them, nets and all, and followed him (Luke 5:9-11 Message)

Can you see? It is quite clear that the drawing sound of Jesus Christ is a reality that pierces the darkest of situations. He speaks in many different ways and in many different places. He finds those He wants to find with a pinpoint accuracy. Why is that?

“You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you (John 15:16 Message)

Divine Love in Christ chooses you. You do not choose Him. He draws you to Himself with grace, and love and goodness in the midst of the violent upheavals of life. It is His faith, the faith of the Son of God, which draws you to Himself. He loves you.

He shows you who you really are, your destiny, and your future in Him. When you least expect it, He sees the time is right and reveals Himself to you. That is what you are looking for right? You want reality – not Christian hype or the façade of religion. You want reality. You want Christ and may not even know it. But, He does.

I have confidence and assurance that young men (and young women, old men, old women and all in between) will hear His sound above all other sounds and will draw them to Himself. He who is the one, the way, the truth and the life.

So this young man who I have been writing about. His circumstances seem to dictate that nothing good will come out of His life. It seems that he is lost amidst the mundane. It appears that hope is fleeting and faith is waning day by day. But, Jesus Christ knows that life is meant to be lived in His grace and His truth. And, He knows where the young man is and He knows where you are. Right now. He is the door to life. Just enter in.

A Young Man with an Ear to Hear – Part 4/5 – Penetrating Light

There is always a way where there seems to be no way.

Jesus said to him, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6 NKJV)

Light Texture The young man, trapped within the inconsistencies of his own life, languished under the constant noise that permeated the darkness. Escape was not just an option, but the only way out of the constant mantra of hopelessness. One can only take so much before this muted sound takes its toll on the mind, will and emotions. It seems like a never-ending battle.

The sound seeking to keep him under its influence was not prepared for what was coming. Jesus Himself is always there, waiting for the darkness to reach its proclaimed point of victory. His timing is exquisite and perfect. His sound comes forth in this perfect timing. When emotions reach a new height of expression in anger, rage or violence. When things seem to be getting to that edge of wanting out, at any cost. When things don’t make sense. His timing is perfect and His sound is clear.

Jesus is the way and in this way, there is a path of light, life and truth. This is reality. This is the way out and the way in. Out of darkness. Into light.

The light of truth has a voice in Christ. Light waves and sound waves travel forth with creative power, dispelling the darkness. Jesus pierces the darkness with an undeniable sound of love and freedom. There is no darkness able to conquer the light for light is a dominating force without foe. It does not suffer defeat.

“He (Jesus) deals decisively and completely with darkness by entering the dark and hopeless void that separates us from Him and bridged the gap in His own life, death, and resurrection.Cosmos Reborn – John Crowder

Our defeated foe no longer has an inherent substance. The existence of darkness rests only in the power of a lie. Cosmos Reborn – John Crowder

The darkness cannot comprehend the light. Light is truth. Darkness exists in lies. Darkness holds its inherent power in lies. And, lies, darkness and evil has already been defeated by the cross of cross.

Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:15 NKJV)

Benicia CrossThe cross of Christ sounds forth throughout eternity with a sound above all sounds. “It is finished.” Christ is the victory for humanity. The power of a lie is conquered and defeated by the eternal sound of truth in Christ. Nothing can stand against Him. He is all in all. His name is Jesus.

The darkness is baffled by His presence. The darkness is confused by the sound of victory. The young man hears this approaching sound in the distance, full of light and life. It rushes past vivid memories of pain, even at his young age. It captures sorrow and grief in its presence. It conquers rage and anger. It brings peace to discouragement and disillusionment. It is Christ, the hope of all young men everywhere.

This Jesus is real, with plan and purpose. This Jesus is the ONE. Young men everywhere seek Him without knowing exactly what they are seeking. In reality, His image and name has been crushed beneath the bondage of religion for so many years that most young men won’t even darken the door of a church any more. But, He is the ONE.

He is out and about. He is here. He is there. And, He is able. There is no other way but in Christ.

Story Week – Part 2/5 – A Young Man – Disengage!

Heart MonitorThe sound: “It is what it is.” A universal sound continually piercing the heart of the young man. This sound is quite subtle but also persistent. The prince of the power of the air uses sound waves to invade and impact a generation of young men. This enemy is no respecter of persons so is able to strike deep in the heart of young men. Color, culture, environment – he shows no favorites. He strikes at the heart to gain a generation, taking them captive to the darkness.

When the young man could not bear one more moment of the droning sound of hopelessness and chaos, he did what he knew to do to escape.

Disengage!

Disengage: Separate or release from something in which there is an attachment; remove troops from an area of conflict.

Put those earphones on and block everything out.

Divorce, chaos, arguing, abuse, violence in the home – Disengage!

School – an emotional war zone of bullying, rejection, peer pressure and violence of the physical type or emotional violence perpetrated on the heart. – Disengage!

Drugs, alcohol, sexual pressure – temptations on all sides!

Hand reaching upPut on those earphones and enter a world where technology conforms you to its own image, where you actually continue to lose yourself without even knowing it. This sound through music, videos or games penetrates and permeates the life of the young man, providing a means of escape from the reality of his own pain. Put on those earphones and trade one sound for another. But what’s the trade-off? The droning of “It is what it is” is left behind. What takes its place? Pulsating sounds that deify violence, rage, death, anger, and hate.

These alternative sounds consistently interject themselves into the void of the young man’s heart. A void will always seek to be filled in some way. To disengage from one sound simply means that you engage in something else.

A battle rages all around this young man’s life. The enemy exploits and uses treachery, knowing exactly what he is after – a generation of young men with a cry in their hearts. They are lost amidst a desire to be found. Looking for a genuine authentic life, they seek truth but only see lies and deception all around. This young man, one individual in a generation that is looking for the light but does not know where to find it.

Great men in times and seasons past have addressed this with words of wisdom and grace. Peter, a disciple of Jesus Christ says it like this:

Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. (1 Peter 5:8-9 Message)

Paul, another mighty man of God, says it like this:

This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life–or–death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon (Ephesians 6:12-17 Message)

It is a battle. Looking from the outside in, one can often feel that we are losing more ground than we are gaining. A generation of young men finds Christianity archaic, irrelevant, powerless and boring. Like David, their hearts cry out, “Is there not a cause?”

All the while, Father God knows best. The great I AM is whispering to the young man, a better way, a more excellent way. Right in the midst of his darkness, the sound of the great I AM is whispering destiny and purpose.

More to come……
