To be Positioned to BE Present

God speaks to me with visions, dreams and prophetic words regarding where I am to go, to live, or to travel. A vision is what brought me to Helsinki in 2002. “Go to Helsinki and pray throughout the nation!” I went along with Marvin and another friend. Led by Holy Spirit, we prayed and traveled throughout Finland.

This Way That WayThere were many more directives over the years.

“Go to Italy! Here is how I want you to walk the land and pray!”

“Go to Detroit and pray over this area! I’ll lead, you follow! ”

To me this is just normal Christianity – filled with supernatural experiences that are in sync with my eternal reality, being seated in heavenly places. From this place, Holy Spirit leads and guides me in the natural realm with heavenly vision. For those who looked at me over the years and often indicated that I was bit ‘off,” I would like to just ask, “How’s your Christianity going for you? Has it settled into a mundane reality or are you living in the adventure of journey in Christ?”

As for me, despite all the ups and downs in the journey, I believe my love for Jesus Christ and my walk of faith is passionately alive and stronger today. I don’t want it any other way. Even through the years in the desert wilderness, I finally learned to be present in the moment to discover God’s hidden beauty in present time. All that dryness in the desert – I fought it at first. Over the years, and there were many, I finally saw the beauty of the moment. It was then that God finally said, “Okay time to move your position again.” God’s positioning of my life is always for a present purpose that He reveals to me over time as I obey and go forward. God is not random. He is purposeful for our lives. And the good thing, I don’t have to sweat over the details. I just need to be tuned into Holy Spirit.

As God positions my life in the natural, He also spiritually births within me a love for the land, the people, the city or the nation. This love is intertwined in my heart so that even as I walk throughout the land, I sense a unity with my purpose for being placed there. There comes intercession and prophetic visions and dreams for the land and the people.

In Finland, as I look back in hindsight, I loved the land and the people. Still do. This enabled me to travel throughout this nation, to see and to know it beyond a superficial understanding. Same thing in Kenya for me – a sense of being divinely positioned by God for such a time as I was there AND will be there again in August of 2015.

I have never just randomly lived anywhere – picked a place on the map and said “Oh that’s nice. Let’s go there.” God is so awesome. Even Marvin’s job assignments were in areas ordained by God.

This is my life. Welcome to it. I am a woman in love with the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ and totally excited about all Holy Spirit has for me.

When we came back from Finland in 2013, we ‘settled’ in Southern California. This is when things seemed a bit different for me. For the first year, we felt lost, alone and not truly connected to anything or anybody. This was new for me. I felt no connection with anything. After one year in Santa Clarita, we moved further west to the coast. This is where I find myself right now as I sit blogging this in Starbucks.

Yet, over the past few months, I see something forming in the distance. I see new things, new assignments and I am walking toward them right now. These past few months have brought preaching assignments and divine connections with some great people. Driving along the coast road from Santa Barbara yesterday, I looked out at the Pacific and my spirit stirred within me about this state. The judgments against this state are so strong from other parts of the country but as one prophet just said “God is NOT through with California!” I believe that with my whole heart.

I Drove A Lonely RoadI am positioned here now to BE present and moving in God’s purpose for the hour i this location. Yet I discovered yesterday that fear began to rise up in me over obstacles to living here. The natural realities of actually committing to God’s purpose here for me in present time came with natural obstacles – finances, affordability, and more. When the natural tries to override supernatural directives, we can find ourselves pulled out of the moment with a million excuses.

“It’s too expensive Lord!”

“How do we do this?”

“Help Lord!”

I actually started crying as I was riding in the car. It was all a bit strange for me. I have always jumped when God said “Go!”

The tension of fear in me fights against trusting God and His purpose. There is a lesson in this for me. I am letting  you share this with me in the journey.

“Lord, how about Dallas…….a lot cheaper. How about that?”

Hope this is making sense for those caught in the moment……more coming…….

Out of the Way – Off the Beaten Path – Sounds Like Holy Spirit

Blue Flowing RiverHoly Spirit loves to take us out of the way and off the beaten path where we discover the beauty of the journey and overwhelming joy in adventure. On those paths we meet Jesus in fresh new ways. He flows through our lives supernaturally. As a Christian, I am not called to walk in a rut, treading ground, looking down. No matter what the condition of my life right now or yours, we are seated in heavenly places, hidden in Christ, alive in Christ. Positionally? Yes. Experientially? Definitely yes.

…and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Ephesians 2:6 NKJV)

Live out from this reality in knowing that in Christ we are eternal. Tune into the directives of heaven in Holy Spirit and life, as you know it will drastically change. Journey in Christ with Christ. Look at situations from an eternal perspective and engage with heaven’s call to walk in the Spirit right now, day by day. How we need Holy Spirit!

Live experientially from this reality. It’s called journey in Christ in Holy Spirit. Am I willing to be spontaneously shifted down an alternate path? Am I willing to take a road less traveled where I may be alone or find others just like me? The experiential outworking of our eternal reality, heaven’s directive, can completely wreck our life. Yet, what is the alternative? Living in the day to day, bored out of your mind, stuck in a rut. That is not Christianity, at least not to me.

Sunlight MarcoChristianity is a journey, creatively scripted for each one of us who are new creatures in Christ Jesus. My reality – I live, move and have my being in Christ. Holy Spirit directs my life, shifts my path, and moves me into different places all at the sound of the whisper of heaven, the voice of God. This is reality. This is spirituality. And, this is my call and my life. To challenge people to desire to know Holy Spirit.

Change for change sake is not what I want for I can shift my direction, follow new agendas, travel the world and still be dissatisfied unless the directives come from the Lord. That is real adventure.

So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “ Give Me a drink. (John 4:5-7 NKJVS)

The right place at the right time. Allow the Lord to lead you to people and then let the prophetic rise up in you to speak life to them. You never know what can happen.

Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “ Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. 27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship….(Acts 8:26-27 NKJVS)

Off the beaten path, led by heaven’s directive and there you have it…an encounter that changed a life. What comes next is even better….

Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea. (Acts 8:39-40 NKJVS)

Shifted in time and space…..reality? Yes for some people. It has not happened to me….yet….but this is reality for some of my friends, who by the way are 80 year old grandmas living on farms in Oklahoma, raised Baptist and touched by Holy Spirit. Adventure. Journey.

There is so much more – read Scripture. Christianity – alive, living, moving, flowing…….I was saved at 35 and when I saw Jesus, my life was never the same. I voraciously studied Scripture. I also hungered for what I realized was available to me – a supernatural life. I have it. Testimonies abound. And more are coming. Journey today. Expect Jesus to be real in your life, living and moving through your life.

Walk It Out!

Walk in the reality of the Word. I determine in my heart, with a surety of belief that I am not content to sit in a passive mode concerning the Word of God. The Word is living, active and alive. The Word moves in my life, changing, bringing life, and transforming.

AwakeImage – Flickr – Steve Rotman

I read a great article on FB concerning Hollywood’s changing landscape regarding interactive movies and how we, as Christians, are called to interact in heavenly realities. You can read it by clicking here.

Interaction -I awake and  interact with the living Word of God. I am seated in heavenly places. Feeling shut down for so many years, I hid in the shadows, knowing deep inside that I am created to gaze upon His beauty and to reflect His glory in my life. How does one do that in the average church today? At times, the atmosphere can be inactive, with people passively sitting. Opportunities arise to minister through conventional means. Sometimes people don’t fit into the template of missions, women’s ministry, men’s ministry, etc. I believe and love the church. In no way am I putting it down. Just thinking of where my own life is heading and what I want as a Christian. We need an uplift, a makeover to truly reflect the glory and beauty of the King and to walk it out creatively, supernaturally.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Ephesians 2:4-6 NKJV)

The Body of Christ needs an uplift into revelation of its inheritance in Christ. There are many seeing this right now and for that I am glad. Experience is a great word and should never be discounted or diminished in any way. It is the Word and the Holy Spirit that walk us in ever-increasing realms of glory here and now. The church is the last place that should be mundane, boring and irrelevant when the living Christ dwells in us…now.

I am seated in heavenly places. This position opens my vision to see, to look all around me as I am seated in eternal realms. I cannot nor do I wish to deny that my Christianity is truly eternal and supernatural. I manifest eternity into the earth realm. The short time that I spend on earth is only that – a short time. I need an uplift in my thinking again. A new download that takes me farther down the road and higher up into Christ in the revelation of Holy Spirit. It hit me this morning that I am not fully engaged in the reality of my Christianity in some aspects. Why? Because I lived in fear, regret and lost my eternal vision Yet, I will walk in this now. Why? I am awake now, allowing Holy Spirit to do what He will and to take me places in the Spirit He desires me to go. The Word of God does not tether me to earthly things. It teaches me to rise above for I am seated in heavenly places.

I set my mind on that. The Word and the Spirit.

1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV)

Creativity – The Breath of God

Holy Spirit 2

Creativity does not flow in a vacuum (a space or container in which the air has been completely or partly removed.) God breathed into Adam and that breath was life-giving. God created through His breath, forming Adam.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7 NKJVS)

Jesus Christ, the new Adam, breathed into His disciples. He breathed into them spiritual life and power. The breath of Christ is proceeding from His grace. The Holy Spirit is the gift of Christ to us as Christians.

And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “ Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained. (John 20:22-23 NKJVS)

Creativity does not flow in a vacuum where air is removed, thereby, affecting life itself. Creativity flows as Christ breathes through His church in the power of Holy Spirit. Creativity flows as Holy Spirit is given the freedom to flow. Holy Spirit moves, creating divine flow and order. That order is God’s way but by now we should know that our order is not God’s order. When the wind of God blew into that room on the Day of Pentecost it blew through with the fury of divine love. That wind was the breath of God and that very breath is in us right now in Christ.

Creativity flourishes on earth when the atmosphere of heaven invades the earth realm through people, filled with the Spirit. Filled with the Spirit? Am I talking about simply about tongues or the supernatural gifts? Yes but that’s only the beginning. Our life is hidden in Christ. I no longer live. Christ’s very life lives in me and through me. Creativity abounds in eternity. The church can live, move and have her being in that realm right now in Christ.

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. (1 Corinthians 2:9-12 NKJVS)

Holy Spirit 1

Creativity abounds in revelation of the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ. Creativity abounds in the written Word of God as Holy Spirit breathes on the Word of God. The Holy Spirit is key to moving in creativity in Christ. Holy Spirit reveals that which is hidden to the natural man with natural senses and quickens the revelation to our spirit. Dreams, visions, revelation manifest to us through our spirit. How do we then translate ideas or revelation that can then be manifest in the earth realm? That is where creativity comes into effect. Why? Because as Christians, we are so diverse, so unique, so individual, yet, we are joined in Christ as one new man, rising up in the earth today. Creativity forms in the person of Christ through unique, innovative and fresh ways………more to come.

Creative Expression – A Seamless Life in Christ Part 2

Heart of FireSeamless – Flowing, Continuously, Living. Connected to heaven, living on earth. Before my salvation in Christ, I wandered into anything and everything that could or would give me meaning. At that time in my life, I did not want, nor did I seek salvation because I was a ‘hard-sell’, very cynical and rebellious. For me to even focus on the Lord, I had to see that He was real. He is. He offered me life and I accepted. And, in my Christianity, I never settled for anything so religious that it denied that I am a spiritual being in Christ, able to hear His voice and meant to walk in the supernatural, . The Word and the Spirit – that is Christianity that is my reality. People of two realms – that is a good way to describe it.

And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Ephesians 2:6 NKJV)

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV)

Heart on Fire for GodWe are spiritual beings in Christ. Who is actually teaching that in church right now? Some are but they are few. I hear a lot of needs based sermons with a cultural edge of justice, restoration, how to have a happy marriage, and how to raise great kids. That is excellent stuff  but that is not the fullness of the Gospel. I hear great teaching. But what about the supernatural? It is the essence of the Good News that we live, move, and have our being in Christ. He created us body, soul, and spirit. Once again, may the reality of Holy Spirit invade gatherings once again.

Flaming HeartMay God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together––spirit, soul, and body––and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23 Message)

Christians are created to move in a continuous flow in the earth. We are the point of contact where heaven meets earth with Christ in you and me. So, living in the reality of an open heaven, seeing in the Spirit, and more is our inheritance now. The door is open and the veil is rent to commune with God as a habitation of His glory.

That’s why we have this Scripture text: No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this, never so much as imagined anything quite like it–– what God has arranged for those who love him. But you’ve seen and heard it because God by his Spirit has brought it all out into the open before you. The Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Who ever knows what you’re thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God––except that he not only knows what he’s thinking, but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us. We don’t have to rely on the world’s guesses and opinions. We didn’t learn this by reading books or going to school; we learned it from God, who taught us person–to–person through Jesus, and we’re passing it on to you in the same firsthand, personal way (1 Corinthians 2:9-13 Message)

In Christ, Debra Westbrook
