Deep Currents of Revelation – Holy Spirit Flow!

Adventure AwaitsHoly Spirit draws us into deep currents of revelation.

But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won’t draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. 14 He will honor me; he will take from me and deliver it to you. 15 Everything the Father has is also mine. That is why I’ve said, ‘He takes from me and delivers to you. (John 16:13-15 Message)

Truth swirls, moves, and flows beneath the surface of the deep waters. To apprehend it, you must dive down. We can’t be content with surface revelation. Go deep – into Christ.

In these initial posts on deep waters, I desire to awaken a faith-filled imagination within each of you. Images, dreams, pictures to see with spiritual eyes and to hear with spiritual ears.

This is an inward journey that brings about a deep transformation and outward life flow. This brings us back to the living well, the bread of life, the light of the world, the resurrection and the life – Jesus Christ. This is necessary, absolutely essential for Christians to flow in kingdom power and anointing in Christ. The Father invests His life in the Son. They are one and in unity in eternal love with Holy Spirit. Christ is in me, a river flowing out of my life. To know Christ is to know life. We are to be life, grace, glory, revelation, power carriers to the world at large. Our world – where we live, move and have our being in Him.

AwakeI want to awaken you – press beyond the boundaries and anchored realities that currently dictate your life and believe that Jesus IS who He says He IS – the way, the truth and the life. Rise up! You are already there in heavenly places.

I want to awaken creative flow in your life to imagine with the eyes of faith that you are in Christ, right now.

The deep waters – a journey out is a journey in. Christ in you, in me.

I will focus on words of Spirit and life, not always easily understood and definitely enigmatic at times. That’s a good thing. Jesus HImself did that through prophetic acts and lots of stories. He will lead me now and in the days ahead to BE in Christ creatively expressing His being through this blog. I love the journey.

Gazing….Hearing the Voice of God

HeartAs a Christian, we hear the voice of our Lord. We heard His voice draw us into salvation but it does not stop there. We hear Him in an ongoing relationship through Holy Spirit who dwells within us to lead, guide, teach and comfort. So let’s establish this fact: we hear His voice.

Is there the opportunity to make mistakes? To not actually hear correctly? Of course there is. But, that should not by any means stop us from seeking to hear Him speak into our lives through every means possible – the written Word of God, the rhema Word of God breathed into us by the Holy Spirit in revelation, dreams, visions, trances, quiet times and not so quiet times, words dropped into our spirits, and through prophetic acts. The possibilities to commune with God are as creative and unique and diverse as God is in His being.  There are many different ways He can talk to us. It is all centered on relationship. Intimacy with the Lord develops a relationship where we are in sync with Him. In Christ…..we are in Christ.

Today I want to talk about gazing upon His face in the power of Holy Spirit in times of meditation. Times where we meet with Him, set everything else aside. Times where we place everything else on hold and label it “Nonessential” or “Unimportant”. Times where we sit down and gaze upon His beauty in order to reflect His glory in and through our lives. This is not some feminine act or some girly thing. It is Scripture and may I remind us that a man first spoke about gazing on the beauty of the Lord. David.

One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.
(Psalms 27:4-5 NKJV)

I also love The Message for devotional times.

I’m asking God for one thing,
only one thing:
To live with him in his house
my whole life long.
I’ll contemplate his beauty;
I’ll study at his feet.
5 That’s the only quiet, secure place
in a noisy world,
The perfect getaway,
far from the buzz of traffic
(Psalms 27:4-5 Message)

In my early years of being a Christian, I was initially a ‘doing’ Christian before I realized that ‘being’ Christian moved me along in revelation and intimacy with Jesus. What do I mean? I spent time as often as I could in worship, with the Bible, and a journal. I went to a variety of places to quiet down and to enter into “being” spiritual, “being” in Christ, and realizing that I am seated with Christ in heavenly places – on earth and in heaven. I asked Holy Spirit to teach me His ways, the ways of the Kingdom. I wrote conversations with the Lord in my journal, dialoging back and forth. May I be bold enough to say that you can’t bypass spending time with Jesus, no matter how busy your schedule is? He can download so much into our lives when we give Him our time. We get more done giving Him our lives to lead and guide as He sees fit. Try it. I assure it that it is awesome.

Some thoughts from a book I am currently reading.

The Cave by Joseph Shrewsbury

“Beholding is simply sitting quietly in the presence of Jesus and seeing Him there.”

“The point of beholding is not to get anything more than simply being in His presence.”

It is in beholding that as we gaze we are transformed in the Spirit, being in Christ. There is a divine exchange that takes place in these times. Can I say it like this? More of you, Lord. Less of me. This is a rare form of Christianity in the West but there is no other way to learn His ways and to be transformed by His Spirit, being conformed into His image. We impact the world, our cities, nations, friends, families……through being transformed in His presence.

The point of gazing is to enter into the reality that being ‘in Christ’ means we are in Christ. I don’t leave. I am always in Christ. He seems to have all of me while at the same time, I get distracted, get busy so I have to pull my being into the revelation that He is my all in all.

There are so many great books to read on this.

Practicing the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence.

Wade Taylor……anything by Wade Taylor. Wade is deceased now but his legacy lives on in His revelation and His love for His Lord.

A few more thoughts from The Cave.

“Moving into mediation, especially the type of mediation that is often called ‘beholding’ requires us to stop talking. In fact, it frequently doesn’t even involve us listening either. When we begin beholding Him, we typically make a deliberate effort to do so, and then we stop beholding and go about our business……..eventually we can maintain a state of continual beholding which is having the awareness of Christ in you and you in Him constantly before you. It is superimposed over your daily activities and you find that having the awareness of Him in you makes your day a day of power in the Spirit.”

So I encourage each and everyone one of you to take time to BE with the Lord.

Explosions of Light Move Me Along In Life

I thought my life would go like this.

Upward Arrow

A constant upward progression – to infinity and beyond with all possibilities before me. After all that is what the Bible says doesn’t it. “For with God, nothing will be impossible.” (Luke 1:27)

Even as a Christian, I believed that if I followed the right formula all would turn out just right. I set out on a path to study hard, pray harder and prophesy over anything that breathed. As a pastor in California, a speaker traveling to many different nations at times, lots of different cultural scenarios – life was good. It should all flow right into bigger ministry, better opportunities and more success. Something like this.

Graph people

But, it didn’t.

It doesn’t actually work that way. Nothing is impossible with God. That’s true. But that doesn’t mean that everything is possible for me. It all works for good, though.

Life constantly brings me down into its reality, where formulas don’t work, answers run out, and everything we thought would be, did not come about. Life twists and turns along a chaotic path. It’s not built on templates, or someone else’s path to prosperity or even on enough positive thoughts.

LIght GraphWhile drinking a caramel macchiato and looking through Flickr, I came to the conclusion that if I were to graph my life, it might look like this.

Chaotic Life Cloud

Or even this other great picture.

My life is not static, but dynamic with explosions of light in between the day-to-day, Revelation finds me and I burst onto a new scene, transformed by what has gone before. The before was the years it sometimes takes to get ‘there’ where there is no forward movement but just walking along in sync with Jesus, learning of Him and discovering His ways. “There” are the times when nothing seems to be happening and I can hope to leave ‘there’ but if I do, I will miss what I am supposed to learn “there” that will take me to the next place. Whew! Understand?

My life is organic in flow and eternal in focus, in the world but not of the world. In Christ. That is my point of reference, wherever He takes me.

My life is rocked in explosions of light where Jesus, the way, truth, and life intercepts my path and simply blows everything up at times. That is the way He teaches me that life is not lived in increments, gradual increases over time. For me, there are explosions of light, which shift me into new plateaus of living. With that comes new relationships, locations, revelation and maturity.

God seems to love life explosions where transformation propels us into new places.

As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? (Acts 9:3-4 NKJVS)

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Master sitting on a throne––high, exalted! ––and the train of his robes filled the Temple. 2 Angel–seraphs hovered above him, each with six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two their feet, and with two they flew. (Isaiah 6:1-2 Message)

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “ Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (Luke 1:26-28 NKJVS)

My life graph is not in incremental increases of measured success. I can’t be graphed or timelined into measured points that produced measured output. Remember the post “We are not producers.” I believe in hard work and discipline IN the flow of Holy Spirit. God knows me, formed me and is intimately aware of my life path.

How can I break this down to those of you who may be a bit more practical in your thinking? As I live, move and have my being in Christ, internal transformation, the light and life of Christ in Holy Spirit leads and guides me on my life journey. Being in sync with Him means I can’t quantify my life by any worldly measurement scale of wealth, degree, knowledge, prestige, honor or fame. Those all disappear in time but that which is eternal never fades or goes away but remains forever.

Relationships, love, mercy, grace, Holy Spirit, compassion, courage, intercession, commitment, integrity, excellence………..virtues that build me up, maybe unseen by those looking for some outward measure of success. God looks on the inside, elevates those who are the least likely and turns things upside down in His kingdom. It is a glorious day to be alive.

About Me

Moving Through Time – At God’s Pace

In this season, I find myself gliding through time observing and watching the moments- without an internal presumption of want to know or need to know. Often there is little interaction as situations swirl around me. It seems I am restrained from fully seeing but instructed to just keep on moving, keep on observing. Don’t speak…….yet.

I was always in a hurry in times past. Where am I going? What does this mean?  I loved to move to my own beat, my own sound. I always wanted to see and to know, NOW. I grabbed each moment and formed a life picture, in my own wisdom and strength.

Remind myselfLately, God slows me down and says, “Enjoy the journey and be amazed!”

Moving along what seems to be a slow conveyor belt, I adjust myself to this slower speed, taking in all the details I would miss if I determined to form time my own way. Anointed by the hand of God, time itself only lays down bits and pieces of the journey. I apprehend moments with a sense of awe and wonder. As discontent and frustration leaves me, life is getting a bit easier. Funny to say that now, in a time when chaos abounds throughout the earth. Yet inside myself, I am slowing down to see and to know what is behind the facade of the times.

He is not giving me the full picture. It’s not supposed to be that way. I see a little bit here and little bit there, trusting Him every step along the way.

Peace settles into the journey displacing any confusion or fear. Slowly, time reveals the beauty of moments, one at a time, forming a picture of fullness right before my eyes. Ah! Now I see. Now I know. Enjoy the journey in Holy Spirit.

ListenGliding through time is necessary in a fast-paced world that is built on a chaotic shallow foundation. I don’t fight this. I want to go deeper in a revelation of Jesus Christ. I am in a hurry. He is not.

Relish this time! Savor it. Don’t waste it.

What transformation is taking place within me? An increased sensitivity to Holy Spirit. Wisdom to discern and interpret the times. To know when to move, when to be still. When to act instead of react. How to move in sync with Jesus in time in Holy Spirit. And…so much more.

Freedom in Holy Spirit

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17) What is freedom? We talk about it. Sing about it. Preach about it. Yet, I see so many Christians living defeated, discouraged, depressed lives – tossed around by the waves of chaos and confusion that are trying to overtake the world.

Cross of Flowing watersWhere the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. The Holy Spirit is in me. The Spirit leads me. I walk in the Spirit. He is not vague, or mysterious as to only be for those more spiritual looking and sounding.

Holy Spirit is filled with passion and purpose in my life. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, in me and with me, there is freedom flowing out from me. Freedom forms the foundation of my life, the very core of my being. Freedom, not just in a meeting. Not just in times set apart for worship and prayer. Now, always, forever. Holy Spirit lives and moves in my life.

Here’s the deal. We can’t divorce the Trinity into manageable components of only what we like, taking Jesus because He appears to be more understandable . Or wanting the Father because He is all about that love. We have Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is a mystery to many. Yet, this mystery longs to be unveiled, moving in our lives, revealing Christ, giving us direction, igniting our lives with the fire of God………..

Freedom in Holy Spirit brings liberation from the confines of the Law of Moses, an Old Covenant reality, which can veil, restricts and hides the face of Christ in the New Covenant. Maybe the law of Moses, Old Covenant, is not openly preached as such yet wherever there is a performance based structure that thrives on a religion based on law, rules, or performance to draw close to God, there is a mixture of Old Covenant and New Covenant. There is no more veil in Christ. The veil is removed.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Many leaders are afraid of Holy Spirit. They inhibit the movement of the Spirit, trying to legislate God’s glory through control. Many avoid the gifts of the Spirit, or even manipulate the moving of the Spirit to keep it contained according to man-made wisdom and its accompanying action. The Holy Spirit is gentle but at times can be wild – Holy Spirit will not be confined to our agenda.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. This freedom is more than what is exhibited in a typical Charismatic service even with manifestations. Manifestations do not indicate an atmosphere of freedom in the Spirit.

How many times did we, as Charismatics, look down on those who did not appear to walk in the Spirit, speak in tongues, or manifest His presence in some way? Even in a service of this type, there can still be preached a mixture of grace and law where people shake but are not free.

breaking chainsFreedom in the Spirit is also more than the current trend of social justice movements flowing through evangelical churches. Without Christ leading the way and without the Spirit flowing through the movement, revealing Christ, it is still devoid of true freedom. Many may be quick to look down on Charismatics as being shallow, without substance yet these movements can be orchestrated by the law of performance and man’s wisdom, without Jesus being at the center.

This freedom talked about in 2 Corinthians 3:17 is deep and profound, changing and transforming individuals first in a revelation of a New Covenant reality. As individuals are changed, a corporate expression of Christ will soon then flow.

This freedom is the core and everything else flows out from it in accompanying action. Unless we are tuned into what the New Covenant has given us in Christ, we are still walking in mixture of grace and law. In that sense, our eyes may still be veiled from the reality of Christ Jesus.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17 NKJV)

This freedom does not subvert or downplay the beautiful reality of grace and the finished work of the cross. It is not a spontaneous, do whatever you want when you want it, total disregard for Scripture, I am free so don’t have to do anything but live by my own definition of grace type of freedom. Look at the context of the verses before it.

For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. (2 Corinthians 3:9-11 NKJV)

What came through the Old Covenant in glory? Glory but there is a more excellent way when we see and take hold of the glory that excels in Christ. That is freedom.

Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech — 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. (2 Corinthians 3:12-16 NKJV)

Paul is talking about the New Covenant in Christ, in Holy Spirit BEING a more excellent way than the way of Moses under the New Covenant.

The veil is removed. There is no obstruction to our seeing the face of Christ. Holy Spirit leads us into greater revelation of Christ.

In Christ, we are going from glory to glory to glory, shining bright with the light and life of Christ in me and in you.

As a Charismatic, I saw manifestations sensationalized in order to qualify the presence of Holy Spirit thereby often downplaying his passion and purpose which is to reveal  Christ in us, the hope of glory. We cried out to God for hours shaking and falling, trying to get His attention, as the veil covered our eyes to the fact that we are in Christ. Being in Christ, the external gyrations were not necessary and did not bring freedom, only a hunger for more manifestations. What a mess we were! Thank God for grace!

A heart of freedom in Holy Spirit grows within an individual who is awakened to their life in Christ and God’s unconditional love for them giving the Spirit to navigate this life with a divine connection to heaven.

As we are awakened to grace and our freedom in Christ, the overflow of that freedom brings a life of unveiled intimacy with the Lord in Holy Spirit. In this, there is desire and passion, which awakens within to live, move and have your being in the unconditional life and love of Christ. The overflow of this life, first individually and corporately, is an overflow of everything else – gifts, manifestation, and justice. We are in sync with God, abiding in Him doing what He is doing in the world today. We are at rest in His moving in our lives. At rest in peace in a time of war and chaos.

Freedom begins within – knowing Christ in me, Christ in you. That is a good place to start. I love you Holy Spirit.
