There is a battle taking place over the spoken word. People are picking and choosing their words so carefully to avoid offense and yet, offense is stirring on all fronts. When we pick and choose our words so very carefully, we actually can dull or dilute their meaning so as to leave them with little or no effect.
So often we speak and before we finally get to the point, we hide our meaning behind so many qualifiers that it’s hard to actually find the point. These qualifiers (excess words) serve to only diffuse the truth in an attempt to make everybody happy and satisfied with a sense of entitlement.
Too many games being played as people try to stand for all things and actually in doing this, we stand for nothing and the beat goes on. Speak the truth.
Speak the truth at all times or say nothing at all. And don’t fear man…….walk in wisdom speaking the truth found in Christ, at all costs. It’s actually worth it. We feel good inside when we know we have not compromised our core beliefs. Walk in wisdom also. That gives a double benefit in not only knowing when to speak but what to speak, the right words. .
Wisdom weaves a path as we speak truth. This path can be through the minefield of public opinion which will annihilate you with opposing words if you challenge any sacred cow. This path can be accusatory as people think your words are not loving enough, kind enough. Wisdom weaves a path and it is not easy but as I said, if you stand for everything, you stand for nothing. How desperately we need truth speakers that don’t hesitate to sound forth what is necessary for these days.
What is truth, you say? Truth is embodied in the person of Christ Jesus who actually said that He is the way, the truth and the life. People are aghast, at times, at the brevity of that statement and what it truly implies. Truth? One way? Christ?
Yes. He said it. He meant it. It’s often said that to say something like that, one must either be a lunatic and liar or a truth speaker. I believe He is a truth speaker and my life centers on this truth. Jesus Christ.
There is a path of wisdom in speaking truth but even when spoken the best way possible, offense is on the rise, stopping up the ears of those who refuse to hear any side but their own.
